Getaway Shores is a modern Scandinavian cabin on the shore of Lake Mitawan in Superior National Forest. The cabin is located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and surrounded by pristine natural beauty. All four seasons provide unique, unforgettable adventures and experiences!
Note: there are 25 steps down to the lake shore. This is not a handicap accessible place

Our goal is to provide you with a relaxing place to unwind and enjoy the remote beauty of the North Shore while remaining comfortable with modern amenities and a clean, comfortable living space.
UNIQUE ADVENTURES
Getaway Shores offers incredible experiences and unique adventures in all four seasons! Fish, boat, swim, & hike in the warmer months. Snowshoe, cross-country ski, ice fish, and enjoy the sauna in the winter. The cabin has a wood burning stove, an authentic, traditional Finnish sauna, and incredible lake views from every room. Watching the sun set across the lake from the deck will be the highlight of your already unforgettable day!
BOATS
The cabin has a canoe, kayak, fishing boat for you to use for fishing, swimming, and exploring the lake. The front porch is also the dock, so you can easily swim or launch the boats at any moment.
WILDLIFE
The cabin sits in a grove of soaring red pines and is surrounded by all kinds of wildlife. During your visit, enjoy bird watching and look for all the creatures that often visit our cabin including beavers, moose, loons, bears, eagles, otters, foxes, and more!
OUTDOOR SPACES
Relax in the various outdoor spaces on our property including in the screened in front porch, the dock, three fire pits, Adirondack chairs, the picnic table, the hammock, or the 12'x14' deck with screened in tent and sunken fire pit on our adjacent property. The cabin has modern, comfortable, well-kept furniture indoors and outdoors.
THE PROPERTY
The cabin is built directly on the shore of Lake Mitawan. It is designed to host up to 4 .people but can sleep up to 6 people. Located on four acres of mature red and white pines and 220 ft of shoreline, it is a remote, private property across the lake from forested federal land. You will do not see any buildings or neighbors. Please remove shoes and bring slippers.
TRADITIONAL FINNISH SAUNA
Finnish saunas are a Northern Minnesotan tradition and will be a memorable highlight of your visit. Located in a cozy little A-Frame structure just up the path from the cabin, breath deeply in the steam from a wood burning stove and take in incredible views of the lake. If you want a full Finnish sauna experience, run and jump in the lake or a snow pile after a soak in the sauna!
