Guest interaction
Unfortunately it is unlikely that we will meet our guests in person as we do not live on the island however we are happy to answer any questions our guests may have to ensure they have the best experience we can offer.
Getting around
As there is limited motor vehicle use on the island, the main mode of transport is bicycle. As the island is mainly flat, bicycles make for a truly relaxing and enjoyable way to get around the island. Couran Cove Island Resort offers bicycle hire at a rate of $30 each per day. However, as our guest we would like to welcome you to enjoy the use of our personal bicycles to use throughout your stay saving you even more on your holiday! As bicycle protective gear is not provided by us, we recommend hiring some from Couran Cove Island Resort or alternatively bringing your own. It is a condition of booking that guests use the bikes for their appropriate use and any damages will be charged to the guests. There are locks provided and it is recommended that these are used when bikes are left elsewhere on the island. It is a condition of booking that we 'The owners of the cabin' are not held responsible for any personal injury sustained from the use of bicycles or other activity equipment provided for the enjoyment of our guests during their stay with us. The guests are responsible for proper use of such equipment and ensuring safety gear is worn at all times while in use.

Sangita and family and friends were perfect guests, they left our cabin clean and tidy, and followed the house rules to the letter.
I would love to host them again someday, thank you.
If you're looking for a place to stay at south stradbroke, this is the place. Much cheaper prices for groups than booking directly through the resort whilst also being very spacious and accommodating. The host generously supplied a few bicycles free of charge to assist in movement around the island. The check in process was easy and the communication was more than sufficient.
The property is a little tired, but clean and comfortable and has quite a flexible configuration to fit all sorts of family assortments. It is on three levels with lots of outdoor veranda space, luckily all of which is protected with mozzie screens. The cooking facilities are a little basic with a hob (only 3 gas rings work), microwave, and air fryer, but with some preplanning they are workable for most recipes. Outside there is a good BBQ.
We ordered our groceries online to collect at Woolworths in Runaway Bay, then took a water taxi from Runaway Bay to the island. This was a good idea as the shop on the island is very basic and the restaurant requires reservations and is expensive. We were also 7 people including kids, so it was cheaper than taking the resort ferry.
Being on the island really requires a bike. The ecolodge is about 15-20 minutes walk from the main resort, or about 5 mins by bike. Our main complaint about the property was that the decent bikes which were provided were all locked up with very strong combination locks which we were never given the codes for (despite asking several times). Luckily we managed to cobble together 4 bikes because we took a bike tool, an inner tube and a puncture kit (bolt cutters might be more useful). This is a necessity as the bikes are in bad shape. Alternatively they can be rented on the island for $30 per person per day. Bikes also allow exploring along the beach tracks and up to Tipplers which is worth a visit (about 3 Kms) for lunch.
A good holiday with plenty to do, despite many of the resort activities no longer being available. The pools, beaches, mini golf, kayaks (for a price), lots of biking trails, tennis, basketball and games room are all still active. We can recommend this property for a relaxed family holiday.
Had a blast over on south Stradbroke. Ryan’s place was perfect for myself and my mates, enough beds for us all. Be mindful that it’s a bit of a walk from the resort facilities to the cabin, especially when carrying luggage and esky’s on check in/out. Hiring some bikes for all other times is the way to go.
Renting this property was an easy process. The host was lovely to deal with and quick to respond to messages. The property is what was expected. Mainland was accessible when needed. Bar and cafe close by for convenience. Family and friends enjoyed the trip and location.
Little bit run down, toilets both need maintenance but a small complaint, really good family holiday with lots to see and do. Weekend there is a lot more happening, recommend hiring bikes to get around.
Everything you need in a holiday cabin. Property managers easy to communicate and quick to respond to any queries. A little rundown but serves its purpose. So quiet and peaceful there!
This eco cabin was great! A short 10 minutes walk away from everything. The wildlife was amazing with hand feeding of kangaroos and goannas keeping the kids entertained for hours. The unit had loads of extras with movies, books, games and was in a quiet area where the kids could safely ride their bikes. The only recommendation for travellers is make sure to take insert spray as being in a rainforest there are plenty of mosquitos outside that just about carry you away. It is great that the balconies are fully screened so you can sit outside without a hassle.
Overall it was a nice getaway for the family in amongst nature. The only niggle I have was the first night there was no hot water and couldn't get in touch with anyone but was all fixed the 2nd night.

Disliked: Location
The eco cabin was well appointed and cozy!!
Overall experience of our first visit to South Stradbroke was average. The place has great potential and the concept is great however the set is really run down and if nothing is being done soon the place will close!!
Spacious eco cabin about 1km from resort. Helpful owner.

Great location, everything provided
We did love our stay here and it was a great location. We had access to everything we needed for our stay. Couple of minor things in regards to cleanliness but overall very happy. Owner was great to book through and had no issues in regards to this.
