This guest unit is in a perfect location. A short walk to the restaurants/bars and shops. The unit is quaint and comfortable. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on! We didn't get a chance to use the outside shower but it is a neat concept. Would stay again if I travel back to Fredricksburg.

Another Wonderful Visit

My husband and I stayed here in December and again in January, along with a previous stay a few years back. We love the ability to walk everywhere from the house. It is also one of the few "sexy" places to stay in Fredericksburg in my opinion. I have been visiting Fredericksburg since the early 90's, and have stayed in many, many different styles of houses, Starry's is definitely unique.

This place has it all!!!

Absolutely love everything about this studio! Just a few blocks off Main Street, you can walk to everything, yet so peaceful and quiet. Started each morning watching deer on the creek while having coffee. Loved the nice bathtub, walk in shower, and the best is so, so comfortable! The owners are so nice and helpful, and even left us a bottle of wine! Every detail in the house makes this such a unique, special place! We will be coming again and again!

What a gem!

This little gem is in the heart of Fredricksburg where you can walk to just about everything. The studio has everything you need and lovely touches like local makers shampoo, wine, etc. The outdoor deck looks over this lovely creek and even in the 100 degree weather it was nice to sit out there in the morning and night. It was everything we wanted in a romantic getaway!

Peaceful Vibe - so close to all the fun, yet private and quiet!

We had such a good experience! The Starry's Studio was an upscale, peaceful, fun place to stay. So close to all the fun in Fredericksburg. It is right around the corner to great restaurants, bars, and live music... yet far enough for peace and quiet. We enjoyed the balcony over the little creek, as well. And the host was super responsive and left a super sweet note for us upon arrival! Not to mention -- some wine, Topo-Chicos, coffee, and tea! Thank you! We will be back!

Had a nice time at Starry’s Studio in Fredricksburg TX. Pros. Very good location. Near Main Street. Studio was clean and inviting. Shower area nice and bed comfortable. Decorated nicely and provided much of what was needed. Cons. Not good for someone with limited mobility. Could use curtains on main windows and definitely needs either two comfortable chairs or user friendly comfortable sofa. All in all a good stay.

Loved Starrys! Intimate, great space for two. It was wonderful to be able to walk to Main Street and also get away from the hustle and bustle in a secluded space over the creek. Perfect Place to Stay!

This place is a must stay! You can tell an artist designed and decorated it. Sarah was the most gracious host and provided fresh flowers and wine upon our arrival- definitely first class all the way! The back deck overlooks Barton creek and a great place to wake up with coffee or unwind with wine I. The evening while watching the deer trot down to the creek. You are walking doaatance to main and all the restaurants, shops and museums. I also encourage you to make reservations at William Chris Wines and Lost Draw for the wine and food pairings. Restaurants in general don’t allow reservations but you should reserve for the tastings. We had an absolutely amazing time in Fredericksburg and will definitely be staying here again!

Starry’s Studio is nestled behind a historic home on East Creek Street, one of Fredericksburg’s beautiful wide, tree-lined thoroughfares just off Main Street in what was once referred to as the town’s “Garden District.” The property’s main home was built in 1906 with an addition and connecting breezeway completed in 1951. The same year, home owner Walter Hayden (Ossie) Osbourn (No, not that Ozzy Osbourne.) built a separate structure behind the home for a workshop and smokehouse where he tanned leather, made furniture, smoked meats from his family’s ranch, and made homemade wines from mustang grapes, agarita berries and local peaches. Ossie’s daughter Melissa (Osbourn) Starry grew up in the house, and, after living in Austin and Houston for nineteen years, she took over the property in 1989 and moved back to Fredericksburg with her husband Ron Starry to raise their young daughter Sarah in this idyllic small town.

That year, Ossie’s old workshop underwent its first major renovation when it became stylist and photographer Melissa’s hair salon and dark room. Melissa named her salon, Starry’s Studio, which was a popular local business for over a decade, welcoming such esteemed clients as Lady Bird Johnson. In 2000, the space was converted to Melissa’s art studio where she honed the painting and mixed media talent for which she has since won local notoriety and awards.

In 2015 another big renovation began and today, one hundred and ten years after the original home was built, Melissa and Ron Starry are thrilled to welcome visitors to the newest iteration of Starry’s Studio, a luxury guest house in the heart of Fredericksburg.
