Quaint cabin on private 230 acre ranch. Snowmobiler and Cross/back country skier can directly access Forest Service Land from our ranch. Built by original Norwegian homesteader. Sleeps 6 comfortably with 2 queens and trundle twins. Recently renovated bathroom and new gas stove update the look of this first non-log cabin built in the upper swan valley. Cabin layout may require some concessions to frontier lifestyle as first residents built cabin with pragmatism in mind. See pictures for more clarity. Part of 3 cabin set on Meadowland Ranch: The Lazy Bean, The Homestead Cabin and The Hunters Cabin all listed in the VRBO

Andy was a pleasure to deal with. The location was beautiful and cabin itself quaint, cozy and comfortable on a very well-cared-for land. A truly memorable experience - thank you Andy!
We enjoyed our stay at the Homestead. It is possibly the only place I have stayed that had enough pillows. Location is perfection and we hope to return in the warmer months to explore the area.
The Homstead cabin, property and host Andy was awesome! We stayed for 3 nights, enjoyed the beautiful landscape and did daily horse rides on the property and the adjoining Bob Marshall Wilderness. Andy was very gracious in accommodating, us, our dogs and horses. We are already looking forward to returning next year!
The Swan Valley is an incredibly beautiful area. This extensive ranch has 3 cabin rentals with plenty of privacy and room to roam. We were in the valley to kayak the numerous lakes and this cabin is a perfect location. Andy is a great host who will give you privacy or answer any of your questions. He is very knowledgeable about the people and history of this part of Montana. He was also very good at helping to make your stay comfortable.
Took a long weekend away from bustling Kalispell. The cabin was exactly as pictured and the setting prettier than a picture. The gas woodstove was much appreciated and easy to use. The cabin seems well insulated and held the right temps morning and night. Great central location to explore the Swan Valley. Condon Community Church is just a few minutes away and is very friendly and welcoming. Andy and his wife are very sweet, genuine and thoughtful - as is his darling momma. We were very blessed to see the Northern Lights for two nights of our stay. A very memorable birthday and Mother’s Day!
Andy was an AMAZING host, he was very helpful and friendly. He told us all about the history of the property, the surrounding area, and gave us recommendations on places that were good to check out. The cabin felt like a home away from home. It has a fun set up for kids in the loft, it took a lot of effort to get my kids to leave with how much they loved it! If you want a peaceful, cabin experience away from the hussel and bussel it is the place to go. The property had plenty of room to go on walks and explore, a good porch set up, and a fireplace that would be great to gather around with friends. We loved it so much we already booked another trip back.
Best birthday yet. The location, fascinating history, PERFECT picturesque coffee sippin mountain gazin front porch, fireplace, comfortable beds, trails at the door and privacy…made it really challenging to leave. And best of all - the genuine kindness of the hosts and their intentional nostalgic decor and little comforts placed throughout make you feel immediately welcomed as if you’re family. There’s an old favorite book floating around for everyone topped with all of the favorite classic board games.
If you’re looking for a reset, a getaway from technology and a reminder to replace screens with moments of being present with those you love, then this place is for you.
I’m already planning our next stay and I’m just so grateful to have found this gem. Thank you for sharing it all, Andy and fam. 100/100.
If you are one who values peace and quiet, this is the place to come and soak it up. Truly a restful experience in this idyllic mountain setting.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a Great Grey Owl. My husband and I are photographers, and we couldn't even begin to unload our gear due to having this rare photo opportunity.
After a bit, our host appeared. This was the beginning of what is going to be a long friendship. Every good thing that has been written about Andy is true. He is the stellar example of what a host should be.
We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay; it went way beyond our expectations.
A photographer's paradise, slow pace and quiet, bring your own food to cook on site or, enjoy an awesome meal prepared at the Mercantile just down the road.
There are lakes to discover and trails to hike. Plan on staying as long as you can because it is worth it!
P.S. Andy likes quiche.
We had a wonderful stay with our family! We especially enjoyed the scenery and trails throughout the property. This is a perfect pick for a quiet weekend away.
Cute cozy getaway, away from all the hustle and bustle. Loved the wildlife and nature surrounding us! Lots of trails nearby to go on day hikes. Loved it! The cabin was not quite as secluded as we thought it would be. There were a couple of other cabins that were closer than we expected, but far enough to not be a big concern. We still loved it and may return at a later date. The owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home.
Beautiful property with wildlife all around. So peaceful and wild. Andy is an awesome host and makes you feel like a friend. He shared so much information about the area and was available to help at the drop of a hat. He’s super friendly and tells great stories! Thank you Andy for sharing your historic cabin and property. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed the quietness. Couldn't hear traffic or even farm equipment. We enjoyed seeing wild life also. At the night, the sky was clear and we could see all the stars. They looked like they were supercharged with brightness. Andy, the owner was beyond great. We got there too late to buy food at the local grocery store, so he brought us food to get us by. His generosity and care were unmatched. We would definitely go back when we are in the area again.
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cabin! Andy was friendly, & communicating with him was easy. We arrived a little late our first night in, but he had the cabin open with lights on, warm & inviting! Deer all around. Book the trip!!
The property is the most amazing place and the cabin was just right for us—cozy and casual. The pictures are very accurate, but the overall feel was even better—just like home. Andy was the most amazing host, made sure that we experienced the best hidden gems of the area. Came to get us when there was a bear to see in the area! We are already planning a return for next year. Absolutely provided everything we were wishing for with our vacation! Perfectly enchanting!
This historic cabin is beautifully placed in the swan valley with mission mountains providing a fantastic view. Andy was a wonderful host very helpful but not intrusive.
The location is absolutely stunning. From the front porch the scene looks like a postcard with the meadow in front, tree line behind and the stunning snow-capped Mission Mountains in the distance. You have everything you need in the cabin and are a short drive from beautiful hikes. Perfect for the three of us - myself and my two adult daughters. Andy is wonderful and a wealth of information on the history of the area as well as the history of the homestead. Will be staying there again!
