Upper Level apartment overlooking Marigot Bay

Villa Makambu a Contemporary-Caribbean style with breathtaking views of beautiful Marigot Bay and Caribbean ocean. The villa is nestled on the south side of Marigot Bay. Villa Makambu is a two level villa. Both levels are private and rented out seperately or together for larger groups.

The unit (upper level) offers two large bedrooms with king size beds,a small bedroom with a single and a mezzanine with a queen size bed, ceiling fans, large wardrobe, mosquito netting, a mezzanine offering a queen size bed with also large wardrobe, mosquito netting and ceiling fans with a TV lounging area , two bathrooms, spacious kitchen and living room, all opening on large verandas by louver doors for dinning and leisure time offering spectacular views.

Surroundings of Villa Makambu: The villa is a 15 minute walk down to the beach, to restaurants, banking, bakery,shopping and nightlife.
You will also find a secluded cove (Trou Rolland) , a 10 minute walk, where you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, jumping of rocks or simply relaxing on the beach.

Information and guidance: The property also has a smaller house which is only occupied by the owner when on the island or by a 24 hour, day and night employee who is available for info or help. Carlos offers water taxiing (extra fees) for fishing, going to private beaches, going to Castries to the market or a day of snorkeling and visiting the Pitons in Soufrière. He will gladly help you in anything you need and he is a great tourist guide who can take you anywhere you wish to go. He is available 24 hours a day, either on site or on his cell.

Wonderful Villa

Villa is very well maintained. The staff who we interacted with were fantastic. Wonderful views and unique style. Communication with the owner and with the local property manager (Anthea) was always prompt and they answered all of our questions. We did not have any issues. Really can't say enough good things. The Marigot Bay Area is one of the nicer areas on the island.

Beautiful accommodations

The Villa was incredible. It was even better than pictured online. Views were amazing. We ended up having the whole property to ourselves which was nice and private, however this would be the perfect place to stay with a group of friends and family since there are 4 apartments total. The top apartment, where we stayed, had a large covered deck with great sitting areas and a big outdoor dining table. It was very spacious and had all the views of the bay and the ocean as well as 3 bedrooms, a loft with another bed, and 2 full bathrooms. A quick drive down to restaurants at the marina with free parking. We considered staying at one of the resorts, but glad we didn’t as they are run down and not nearly as nice as this villa. A gem in Marigot Bay for sure!

Villa Makambu had it all when it comes to views. However, we experienced many plumbing issues that left us without water for 3-4 days. It was indicated that the plumbing issues are ongoing and were frequent. Water borne bacteria is a issues so do not take the advice of management and drink the water. The CDC states that you should drink bottled water. In addition to having issues with the plumbing, management had also double booked the unit that we had rented on VRBO. When we did move to the Villa, 5 days after our arrival that we rented on VRBO, it was not as clean as I perfer. They did provide a smaller unit for three first 5 nights. We found many fun activities in Soufrière; i.e., snorkeling, mud bath, volcano. I would recommend this Villa, but do not set your expectations too high.

Beautiful views

The property is lovely and the pictures are a great representation. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The hosts are amazing and went the extra mile to help make our vacation special. The only drawback are the roads. It’ll be best to have a car to visit other areas but driving in Saint Lucia is not for the faint of heart. Definitely get a high vehicle with lots of power. You’ll need it! Beautiful, lush country with friendly people.

Paradise in St. Lucia!

The pictures don’t do the property justice! We stayed in here for 4 nights & it was truly paradise! They even arranged for a pack & play for my 9mo old to sleep in. There are two other apartments in the villa, but we hardly ever saw people & even though we went to bed early (due to the aforementioned child), we hardly heard anyone with the noises of the sea/wind/birds/fan. Pasquale & Anthea made everything so easy for us & were super accommodating. The villa could easily sleep 7 people if you don’t mind 2 people sleeping in the loft area that has no doors (but has a curtain) to the living room. Super spacious & amazing terrace & views. Love love love this place!

This is the best word to describe the villa. We stayed over Xmas and we had a great time and Pascale is the best Vrbo host we have experienced. Pascale will help with providing dinner reservations, fishing trips and tours. There are several restaurants in Marigot bay and we had a great time. I would suggest reservations. I would give this a 10 star if it was available. We would definitely come back .

Beautiful views and beautiful villa

Pascale is AMAZING, and her villa is spotless and gorgeous. Marigot Bay is the perfect place to stay when you want to explore both parts of the island. True to the style of amazing kindness in the residents Saint Lucia, Pascale was, hands down, the best VRBO host ever. She told us where to go, where to eat, and checked in on us regularly.

Absolute Perfection!

This place is magical! The property was meticulously maintained, clean, and very comfortable. Our kids couldn’t get enough of the pool and the little lizards and we enjoyed the views and how incredibly peaceful it was! Our host Pascale was so wonderful, she made us feel very welcome and made our trip seem so easy. Due to covid protocols we couldn’t go grocery shopping, so she did all our shopping for us and bent over backwards to make our stay perfect. She was also extremely helpful leading up to our trip answering our many questions due to COVID protocols on the island. When we left it felt like we were saying bye to a dear friend. I couldn’t recommend Villa Makambu enough and we can’t wait to go back!

Birthday Vacation

Pascale made everything easily accessible from the time we arrived at the airport down to the moment we left. As you reach the property prepare to have your breath taken away because the cool breeze during the day/night plus the soothing sounds of the crickets was one of the first beauties. We were greeted with groceries and champagne which made our first night super relaxing after a full day of travel! If it’s not in the villa, it’s just an ask away! Pascale will not hesitate to ensure you understand everything about the area and will provide almost anything you may not have (you would pay of course). Giving great recommendations for excursions and places we would enjoy most. Our only small hiccup was the dinner we ordered, as it was a bit different from what we normally eat. We loved Doolittles so much we ate there almost every day 😊 Now to mention our drivers Andre and Eldon, they were amazing when it came down to taking us through those tricky roads. Our drivers even got some locals to bring out souvenirs since we missed the shops on our way back from horseback riding. Great music and very knowledgeable about the island so no matter where you go you will learn a very interesting fact about either a 400 year old tree, learning creole/Patwa, sightseeing the amazing bays. Overall we enjoyed every moment of our trip and I want to thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday at your beautiful villa. We would surely return in a heartbeat!

Fantastic host and villa

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Makambu. First and foremost, Pascale and Nick were superb hosts. Because of Covid restrictions, much of our excursions, taxi, food shopping, etc. had to be coordinated by the villa owner and Pascale was super attentive and went above and beyond. The villa has stunning view of Marigot Bay and is very true to the photos on VRBO. We had the good fortune of being the only ones there at the time, so it was oversized and very private for our experience. One should definitely bring insect repellent as there are mosquitos in the lush surroundings, but repellent and mosquito nets at night solve the matter. Great location, great villa and, in our case, concierge-like attention when required. Many thanks!

Marigot Memories

Everything and I mean everything lived up to the pictures, reviews and our expectations. I would without hesitation recommend this property. The pretrip support from Pascale, the on-site support from Nick and the ever-present smile, advice and joy that Carlos brought to this property made us feel like we were at home. I hope to one day return, there is no place on the island I could imagine staying at. Family Trip To St. Lucia

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Villa Makambu. This is a beautiful home overlooking Marigot Bay. We loved the outdoor living space where we enjoyed our morning coffee and evenings playing cards. Highly recommend renting a 4x4 vehicle to visit different areas of the island. fantastic villa

Villa Makambu was a perfect place for our family of 5. After busy days exploring and playing all over the island we looked forward to coming back to the pool and peaceful atmosphere of Villa Makambu. The villa was very clean and had everything we needed. Carlos (villa manager) was awesome - he took care of any requests we had quickly and he had great suggestions and tips for fun things to do during our stay.. Outstanding in every way!

Our family of 4 spent spring break week at Villa Makambu, and we had a truly remarkable experience. The villa itself (we stayed in the lower 3br unit) is island-elegant - well decorated, spacious, extremely clean, with spectacular views of Marigot Bay and the Caribbean Sea. The pool area is beautiful, adjacent to the outdoor seating area of the villa. The kitchen is completely adequate, and the bathrooms are nice with wonderful open-air showers. But what makes Makambu and St. Lucia in general so unique are the people. We can't say enough about the level of service provided by the full-time and on-site property caretaker Carlos. He seemingly worked all day and night to ensure the grounds were in perfect condition. Any questions or needs we had, he took care of (such as driving us down to the village for dinner our first night, before the arrival of our rental car). Our VERY BEST two days of the vacation were spent with Carlos and his first mate and cousin Lance on Carlos's motor boat, visiting various beaches, resorts, and snorkeling spots along the Caribbean coast. They refer to this as a "water taxi" but it really was our own private water-based tour guide. So much fun and a tremendous way to see the island. The rest of the staff was amazing. Myranda kept the inside of villa spotless and always had a smile on her face. Josee manages the property for the owners and provided us with a thorough overview of the island and things to do upon checking in. Owner Pascale was very responsive and easy to work with. And the people of St. Lucia were all very welcoming and gracious. We would definitely recommend a car rental. The village of Marigot Bay is walkable, but you'll appreciate the convenience of a car to explore, hit the grocery store, etc. The cool thing is the owners can arrange your car rental for you at an excellent price, with the car delivered right to the villa - no hassle when you arrive at the airport (included in our rental was transportation from the airport to Makambu). At the end of our week, we drove to the airport and met the car rental agent, and just handed him the keys - couldn't be any easier. Our only complaint for the whole trip is that the food in St. Lucia leaves a lot to be desired. Expect to spend a lot for mediocre food. Masala Bay in Marigot is outstanding, we enjoyed lunch outside at the Bayside Cafe. In closing, we loved our time at Villa Makambu and can't wait to return!

Fantastic villa in Marigot Bay!

The photos you see here look great. But they don't do justice to the reality of the place, which is even more impressive. The views are spectacular, the Villa's design is thoughtfully laid out, the furnishings are attractive and comfortable, it's equipped to make you feel right at home (if home for you happens to be situated in paradise). But the people of Villa Makambu are really its greatest asset. The owners, Pascale and Franz, are lovely folks -- fun, easygoing, comprehensively knowledgable after nearly twenty years on the island, entirely helpful and dedicated to providing the best possible experience for their guests. Should they happen not to be there during your visit, their friends and fellow local innkeepers Josee and Pierre step in to make sure that guests are similarly well taken care of. Always on hand are the amazing Carlos, the Villa's Man of All Seasons, and wonderful Miranda, who thoroughly cleans each of the units every three days. If you want a predictable, low-impact, white-bread, for-god's-sake-don't-set-foot-off-the-grounds sort of Caribbean vacation, there are plenty of suitable options on St. Lucia and elsewhere to choose from. But if your idea of a good time is sitting on your veranda enjoying a panoramic view of one of the sweetest protected harbors in the Caribbean, maybe taking an occasional cooling dip in the saltwater pool, maybe letting Captain Carlos take you out in his boat for a day on the water that includes snorkeling at his secret underwater forest of shimmering coral, maybe taking in a happy-hour sunset from the bayside dock at Chateau Mygo down the hill, maybe taking a half-hour drive to the capital, Castries, to hit the open air market or to buy the freshest mahi-mahi or yellowfin by the side of the road where Carlos told you the day-boat fishermen sell their catch, Villa Makambu may be right up your alley. A couple of points in response to other comments left here -- after nearly six weeks over two years as guests at this villa, we've never experienced any issues whatsoever with the plumbing or water supply. Outside the Villa, we tend to stick with bottled liquids out of an abundance of caution but at Makambu we drink the tap water, we use it for cooking and to make coffee and tea and we've never had a reason to regret it. For us, it's hard to imagine a better Caribbean vacation experience. That's why we keep coming back. There's just no reason to roll the dice on anyplace else.

Definitely home away from home!

Our stay(second time) at villa Makambu was sheer bliss and relaxation. The villa itself is tastefully furnished and has everything to make you feel right at home. The views are magnificent and we never got tired of drinking them in! Carlos and Miranda are the caretakers of the villa and their attentiveness to our needs were outstanding. Josie who manages the property was amazing at making sure our stay was everything we wanted. We had the opportunity to meet Pascale in person this time around and she is the most warm and welcoming host. We will definitely be making a third trip back to Villa Makambu!

AMAZING VILLA, OWNERS, & ISLAND

My husband and I stayed at the Villa Makambu for our honeymoon and it was just what we were looking for! Secluded enough to have space for ourselves, but close enough to the bay to walk down to the beach for some snorkelling or dinner. The owners, Franz and Paschal were very gracious and helpful in making us feel welcome and informed about the island and what there was to do. Carlos, the grounds keeper was also fantastic in pointing us in the right direction and driving us around until we rented car. The Villa was clean, newly built, and very charming. The people of Saint Lucia were very friendly every where we went. We highly reccomend staying at the Villa Makambu. If we ever return to Saint Lucia, you can be sure this is where we will be staying. I give them 10 stars!

UNE VILLA REMARQUABLE ET DES GENS GENTILS

Cette splendide villa est juchée au sommet de la Baie de Marigot. C’est un oasis de détente en parfaite harmonie avec la nature. Nous passions notre temps dans la grande piscine et sur l’immense terrasse très bien aménagé où on avait une vue superbe sur la Baie et la Mer. Les lits sont très confortables et la cuisine est très bien aménagée. Carlos est un gentleman et il est très serviable, il ne faut pas hésiter à lui demander quoi que ce soit. Il est également un très bon cuisinier et il nous disait qu’il avait appris de sa grand-maman. La belle Myranda est très discrète lorsqu’elle vient faire le ménage. Nous avons eu la chance que la propriétaire, Pascale, soit présente. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié ses nombreux conseils sur la visite de St-Lucie et aussi pour avoir pris le temps de faire les réservations pour la voiture, le catamaran et le restaurant. Nous avons découvert un lieu magnifique dans une villa splendide et ce qui nous a marqué le plus est la gentillesse et le sourire des habitants. Incredible Honeymoon at Villa Makambu

Wow! There are just too many incredible things to say about Villa Makambu. The owners of this villa, Franz and Pascale, are extremely friendly and so very accommodating. We were very fortunate that they were staying on the other side of the property during our time there, and they were extremely helpful in providing directions and suggestions on things to do. Franz and Pascale built this beautiful villa a few years ago, and they take great pride in what they have. Don't fret if they are not staying at the property during your time there as Carlos and Josee, who help oversee the property while Franz and Pascale are not there, are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating as well. I'll get to Carlos and Josee in a moment, but I believe the owners will do whatever necessary to insure your stay at Makambu is a special one. Next up is Josee. Josee is a blessing to have at your fingertips (and she is because you will be provided a cell phone for local calls while you are staying, and she is almost always available). She is a wealth of information about the island, points of interest, dining locations, activities, car rental, etc. Want to know what to do next on your trip? Just ask Josee! I can't write a review without mentioning Carlos. Carlos is on the property almost 24/7, and I can't say enough good things about him. He is so thoughtful and nice, from cooking fish cakes the day we arrived, to giving us fresh coconut milk and grapefruit juice, driving us to Marigot Bay, and taking us on an unforgettable day on the water in his boat. Carlos is a major reason why you should book Makambu for your stay. Now, let's cut to the chase. Here are the little details that make Makambu special. The villa is professionally cleaned at least every 3 days. Your first morning's breakfast will be in the refrigerator when you arrive. The pickup service at the airport with a stop for groceries on the way is so helpful. The villa is exactly like the photos provided - views are incredible, furnishings are beautiful, kitchen is awesome (no microwave so remember that, if you eat leftovers), television and internet are available if you can't find anything better to do. Master bedroom shower is huge! Location is off the beaten path, but only a few minutes walk from a beautiful, private cove. We found the walk to Marigot Bay to be an easy and quick one. From start to finish this has been an amazing trip that we will never forget, and our stay at Makambu is the main reason why.

villa magnifique! Vue splendide!

Nous sommes une famille de 2 adultes et 3 enfants et avons vraiment adoré ce séjour. La villa est parfaite, vaste, propre, très bien décorée et agencée. La vue est superbe (nous avions loué le premier étage), la piscine impeccable. Pascale et Franz ont tout fait pour que nous nous sentions "chez nous". Accueil et séjour parfait! Nous recommanderons vivement cette location et espérons pouvoir y revenir un jour!
