Base your beach holiday from this large, affordable, open-plan apartment on the lower level of our two-storey home. Stroll to Dunwich's beaches, cafes, galleries, & shops, or drive a short 15 minutes to surf or watch whales. With plenty of living space both inside and out, and a hammock and BBQ on the spacious recycled timber deck, you’ll have all you need for your island getaway.
From the moment you walk down the pathway to your private entrance, you will appreciate the little touches in this apartment. Over the past 20 years of living in this property, we have focused on creating a comfortable, unique, and relaxing atmosphere, and we want our guests to enjoy the place as we did.
Begin your day with breakfast with the birds on the deck. Our local kookaburras and magpies are always keen for a visit, and keep an eye out for rainbow lorikeets zooming past!
The house is the perfect spot for doing anything…or for doing nothing at all. After a day of diving with manta rays, searching for hidden sea creatures on the sand flats, surfing world-class Cylinder Beach, cooling off at Myora springs, or watching humpback whales from the headland, relax in the hammock on the deck. When it’s time to wind down, cosy up with one of our eclectic book selections on the comfortable lounge. Toys, books, DVDs, and games suitable for a range of ages will entertain both young and old if the weather keeps you inside.
The kitchenette comes equipped with basic cooking facilities, including a two-burner induction cooktop, microwave, kettle, and toaster. While it is simple, it is stocked with all the cookware necessary to whip up a gourmet meal. Snack on lychees plucked off the tree, and pick a lemon or lime from the garden to squeeze over your Straddie-caught seafood.
Sleeping options can be tailored to your requirements, with two air-conditioned bedrooms. One has a queen-sized bed separated with a privacy curtain from the living area, while the other has a queen bed and designer French and bi-fold doors. Additional guests (up to a maximum of 6) can be accommodated on the double fold-out couch.

Dunwich is your first port of call when arriving to beautiful North Stradbroke Island from the mainland. It is convenient to bayside beaches and boat ramps, and hosts a variety of local Quandamooka artisan shops, restaurants and clubs, and even our local museum. Straddie, as the locals call it, is a relaxing fishing and beach destination, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Straddie Bay Views is centrally located in easy walking distance from both ferry and water taxi terminals, bus stops, shops, and cafes as well as local art galleries and the museum. Two peaceful bayside beaches are only minutes away, perfect for swimming at high tide or exploring at low.
Attractions in Dunwich include the native wildlife, with kangaroos and koalas often seen along the shoreline and in parks. It is a short 15-minute trip by bus or car to nearby Point Lookout and Amity Point, on the ocean side of the island, where you can enjoy surf beaches and an array of dining options. Brown Lake, a large natural fresh water lake is less than 10 minutes drive from the apartment, or can be accessed via a 45 minute walk through native bush. Direct four-wheel drive access to Main Beach is only 15 minutes away. The property is ideally positioned for access to the local boat ramp opening onto the many fishing spots that Moreton Bay has to offer.
Bringing a vehicle is a great way to get the most out of your Straddie experience with daily vehicle barge services to the island. Conventional roads link the islands main centres of Dunwich, Amity and Point Lookout. For the more adventurous a 4wd vehicle will provide access to the more remote sections of the islands stunning beaches. Alternatively, we are conveniently located a short walk from the ferry terminals and also a public bus stop. Water taxis departing from Cleveland, also service the island if you do not wish to bring a vehicle. The apartment is a comfortable walking distance from the taxi terminals. Regular bus services still provide access to Point Lookout and Amity and local taxis are also available. Search “Stradbroke ferries” for details of barge services or “Stradbroke ferries” or “Straddie Flyer” for water taxi services. The Straddie Flyer water taxi service also provides a free bus service from the Cleveland train station which meets many of the Cleveland trains. (see website for details)
