The Quarters - A real farm experience


The renovation is complete. A warm and charming farm stay awaits - a far cry from the basic abode provided to the many shearers that passed through Bondonga wool shed. Whilst maintaining its atmosphere and ambience, we provide a comfortable, well appointed and romantic experience for you to enjoy.

BONDONGA

Is a 6th generation sheep station encompassing 920 ha of undulating to hilly pastures. The focus is on the production of quality grass fed lamb. We endeavour to treat our land and animals with the greatest respect. Extensive tree planting has been undertaken and 180 acres of remnant bush is being preserved and managed. Kangaroos, wallabies and the precious platypus, along with a multitude of beautiful birds, live within the property's boundary.

Take the opportunity to experience real farm life on the ATV Tours. Hear first hand about Australian farmers, see sheep and lambs, feel the wool, experience the sounds and smell of a working shearing shed.

THE REGION

The Quarters is located 11km from the sophisticated rural city of Orange and only 3km from some of Orange's most successful vineyards - Mayfield, Sassy and Moody's.

Orange, with its vibrant and delectable food culture, is an easy drive showcasing numerous restaurants, cafes, parks and gardens.

Byng, with its convict built church and period homesteads, is a 'Must See' and only 5 minutes from Bondonga.

Enjoy the unspoiled natural beauty of the Ophir Reserve, 30 minutes from Bondonga, where Gold was first discovered in Australia in 1851. Take a picnic lunch, wander the old diggings and pan for gold.

The historic town of Millthorpe, classified by the National Trust, with its untouched cobblestone streetscape and federation buildings, top class restaurants, cafes and galleries is only a 20 minute drive.

ATV TOURS; Tours are organised by appointment prior to your stay. 2 hour tours of the farm in a Honda Pioneer ATV, 4 adults max, children will be assessed depending on age and size.
Prices start at $100 for the 1st adult, then $20 each additional passenger. Family rates apply when children U/16 travel with adults. Payment - C.O.D.
Make sure to bring a warm, weatherproof jacket and beanie.
Tours can be cancelled due to bad weather, full refund applies.
REQUEST ON BOOKING

WALKING: A number of short to longer walks are available outside of lambing time. A large area of 200 acres of preserved remnant bush OR creek side paddock walks where you might spy our illusive platypus colony. MAPS will be provided. We do not accept responsibility for any injury or loss whilst walking. ALL GATES LEFT AS YOU FIND THEM AND LIVESTOCK TO BE RESPECTED .
GUIDED WALKS: Can be arranged, particularly those who are up for a challenging 2 hour walk.
Again by appointment, warm clothes and good boots. A tariff applies.

Fantastic Farm stay

We loved our stay at The Quarters - such a cosy place to stay with amazing views! It was great to wake up and look out at the rolling hills in the morning, and to have the fire on at night. Our son loved seeing all the sheep and having a ride in the ATV.

Beautiful country stay

The most beautiful little country cottage. Everything was neat and tidy and we had everything we needed! Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a weekend stay near Orange NSW

Sitting next to fire pit in cold weather, on a farm, drinking hot tea and just relaxing for a few days... Helps you reset and replenish energy before returning to work. Enjoyed our second stay at the Quarters. Will go again.

A perfect place to unwind

We have a great stay. The “Quarters” is a divine cottage which is extremely comfortable with lots of little extras, including breakfast supplies. Fran and Chris were excellent hosts and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We loved seeing all the sheep wandering nearby. Thank you very much.

Fantastic stay, experience money can't buy!

Highly recommend this farm stay. The property is beautiful and the house has been lovingly renovated. Chris and Fran are great hosts. The highlight of the trip was the farm tour with Chris. A Wonderful Farm Stay Experience

Our family enjoyed the luxury of The Quarters with its history & charm, Fran had every detail thoughtfully covered. The surrounding countryside provided special opportunities for discovery, especially the bushwalk to the creek. The ATV tour with farmer Chris was an eye-opening adventure we will never forget. We were sad to leave this beautiful place and such lovely people.

Loved it!

Our family loved our stay at the Quarters. The cottage was comfortable, clean and homely. It was styled perfectly and contained everything we needed. We appreciated the delicious bread, eggs and hot chocolate waiting for us on arrival as well as some small vases of flowers from the garden. The kids loved roaming the sheep covered hills surrounding the cottage. The location was great with it being removed far enough from main roads but close enough that trips to surrounding areas were easy. A highlight of our stay was a 2 hour tour of the property by Chris. We all loved learning about different aspects of the farm.

Couldn’t Have Wanted For More!

The cottage really shows little of its former life, with its extremely tasteful decorating, beautifully comfortable warm beds, quality bed linen and thick soft towels. The kitchen had everything you could need and we appreciated the little hamper of goodies provided for us. Despite the winter temperatures, the place was kept lovely and warm with its gas log fire and additional room heaters. The resident peacock was nice to have around and we even forgave him poo-ing on the front doormat! We took advantage of the ATV farm tour and Chris’ passion for his farm and stock was undeniable (even in these times of drought and hardship); we were left with so much more awareness. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Oh my goodness, if you’re looking for a nice relaxing break away from it all…this is it.The house & surroundings are beautiful, the rooms were spotless, and pink sprinkle cookies that Fran kindly gave us were insane!!!So pleased we did the farm tour with Chris, we all loved it and learnt so much. A must needed break!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time away at The Quarters. the quaint home was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a city but close enough to the beautiful Orange and surrounding Towns.Our hosts, Fran and Chris were extremely responsive and prepared our accommodation wonderfully. Countryside Escape

We had such a relaxing time at Chris and Fran's cottage. It was well stocked and cozy. When I needed some measuring spoons for a recipe, they delivered a spare set to me! Very responsive and helpful hosts. We loved sitting by the fireplace and having a bonfire outside. I hope to return again someday!

Great Stay in Emu Swamp

Fran and Chris' place was perfect for what we needed, Well stoked kitchen, very comfortable bedrooms, and spotlessly clean. We had a lovely time, and really enjoyed the farm tour. Fire pit was ready for us when we arrived and provided a lovely night by the fire toasting marshmallows. Despite it being freezing outside, the house was nice and warm with all the heaters and gas heating in the lounge. We really enjoyed our stay, would definitely come again.

We had a fabulous time at The Quarters. We had a great experience for children to experience the rural lifestyle. The Quarters is fully equipped with all your needs and all essentials. Highly recommend a farm tour with Chris on their farm to get a good feel of what rural life farming and the history of the area and the farm. My children walked away with great knowledge and a lot of respect for the land and an understanding of farming. Chris and Fran are great people and the hospitality of making us all welcomed was world class. Would definitely stay again, Chris, Fran once again a big thank you from me and my children. Absolutely gorgeous

Well, what a property. The cottage is stunning, its old country charm took me back to living on the farm. It was clean, well presented and nothing was spared. More than enough linen, blankets, towels and pillows. The gas fire was gorgeous to sit by and the subtle baa of the sheep created this beautiful relaxing sense of happiness. We stayed here for 4 nights for our wedding recently, our children with us on some nights and they were comfortable, warm and loved spending time in the lounge and garden. The whole cottage is just homely and comfortable and the external gardens, stunning. The hosts Fran and Chris were easy to reach, accomodating and helpful. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Wedding Stay

Fran and Chris have created the most idyllic, quaint and cosy cottage. We stayed the night before our wedding and it was where we all got ready on the big day. The cottage is sun-filled and bright with the most gorgeous garden and surrounds. The warmth and cosiness of the cottage made it a relaxing start to our big day. We recommend a stay at The Quarters for anyone looking for a country getaway
