About this property

Persimmon - romantic getaway in historic Clunes

Persimmon is a late 1860s ironmongers shop residence converted into a warm and welcoming one-bedroom abode in the heart of Clunes.

In the early 1860's the shop on Fraser Street was erected and used by the owner/occupier as an Iron Merchant and general store for agriculture and leather goods. A rear residence was erected a little later in the late 1860's. The addition of the residence typifies the rebuilding and general upgrading of the area in the late 1860's and early 1870's.

The restoration of this historic building has seen original period features kept that provide insight to and a reminder of a time long past. Small and elegant, a focus has been placed on beautiful fabrics and a contemporary period style that comes together to create a special and memorable space.

Petite, but perfect, everything you need is here. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge, wood heater, king-size bed, and even a claw foot bath, sit in stylish and sophisticated interiors.

Views onto an enclosed courtyard give a feeling of being in another time and place. You can relax and really make the most of this charming and quiet getaway, or simply stroll to the main street 50 meters away and peruse the quaint shops, groovy cafes and restaurants, immersed in the history and ambience of this brilliant place.

A mecca for moviemakers and enthusiasts and home to the Booktown Festival, Clunes is rapidly becoming the next little Victorian "hot spot", a must to discover.

Beautiful unique little cottage. Perfect getaway for a couple looking to relax and rejuvenate. Only downside was that Clunes was essentially closed. Only 1 cafe open the first three days we were there. And nothing open for dinner anytime.

Little gem
The apartment was compact but perfectly laid out and curated for comfort and utility. Locked off street parking and private courtyard with sunny and shady spots was enjoyed. The inside was pretty and welcoming and care has obviously been taken to provide everything you could need. Lovely.

Relaxing and quiet
This is a dear little property, beautifully presented. The weather was lovely and we sat in the garden/courtyard each afternoon. More touristy information on the area would have been good for us. But we loved the Rose and Oak Cafe over the back fence. So private, a happy place.
