Sophisticated Gold Country Cottage

Located 1 mile from downtown Murphys on 6.5 acres. Private but not remote. New construction, this charming little cottage is fresh and unique. Warm, colorful and friendly with a nice combination of new and antique furnishings. Comfort is our primary focus, king sized bed, all cotton linens, sparkly bathroom, large deck with view, beautiful tile and granite kitchen and cozy living room. There’s also a queen sized aero bed that can be rolled out on the deck if you choose to sleep under the stars. Walking distance to Indian Rock Vineyards and tasting room.The evenings are filled with the sounds of frogs and crickets, turn off the lights for great star gazing. Deer, turkey, quail and rabbits are frequent visitors.
Perfect base for your visit to Murphys and all that Calaveras County has to offer.

Cozy Cottage

Quiet and secluded with wonderful accommodations. Beautifully decorated inside and a super comfy bed also. Because the cottage sits up on a hill, the views from the deck and surrounding acreage are really lovely. Very peaceful place.

We had a lovely time. The weather was perfect. The host was very responsive. The home has everything you would need. The views from the deck were amazing, especially watching to moon rise. We were able to recharge. We would love to come stay again!

Claire's excellent taste and attention to detail made it a joy to spend the weekend at her country cottage. It is so relaxing and peaceful here! We particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the birds and squirrels in the trees all around us. We'll be back!

Excellent Rental Property

We thoroughly enjoyed our month stay in this gorgeous rental. All amenities were as described in the listing and then some. The owners are incredibly responsive. The place was clean and the views are fantastic. Wildlife, sunsets, bbq on the deck, super patio, great walks in the nearby neighborhood. We would definitely recommend this rental.

Beautiful cottage in Murphys

Loved this sweet cottage! Everything we needed was there, and it is so comfortable and beautifully decorated. Located about 1.5 miles outside of town and set on its own with lovely sweeping views meant a real sense of privacy and so quiet and peaceful! Renee was super responsive and helpful. We will definitely be back as this is a perfect base for walking in Big Trees State Park (fall colors were amazing) and cycling, plus enjoying the sweet town and amenities of Murphys.

The "Hummingbird" Cottage

We had a wonderful two-day stay at this property. It was perfectly appointed with everything we needed. We enjoyed cooking and dining on the deck in the evening and sipping our coffee there in the morning. The seclusion of the property allows for a peaceful stay. We were constantly watching the numerous birds around us - especially the humming birds! We only wished we had booked another night because it was hard to leave.

weekend getaway

perfect location for quiet relaxation up in the woods surrounded by beautiful nature with the luxury of hotel-like inside/ well equipped home. Did not need to go out of the property at all because the place is already sufficiently amazing. Only minor communication problem did not get exact info how to open the gate ahead of time but Renee answered our call right away and helped us.

Serene Treetop Cottage

This little cottage is the perfect place to escape from the hubbub and stress of everyday life. You feel like you're amongst the treetops in the middle of a forest, yet you're a mile or two from charming Murphys and many wineries in the area. This location is also the perfect jumping off place for exploring the Sierras or Gold Country towns. And if you like hummingbirds, trees, or beautiful art, you are in luck, as this location has them all. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Beautiful home with great views. Quiet, lots of wildlife, close to town and other sites to see. We feel refreshed and could not have chosen a better home. Would love to visit again. One comment..... A washer and dryer would have ideal especially to clean our towels and sheets so less work for housekeeping.

Get away to gold country

My beau and I absolutely loved our stay at Renee and Paul’s hideaway! It is beautifully designed with style and class. It was the perfect size for 2. We grilled and sipped both our evening wine and morning coffee on the deck-watching the antics of the resident hummingbird. Bed was very comfortable! Nice bath and toiletries. The kitchen was perfect. (Note that there is a microwave but no oven). Secluded and yet close enough to town. We will be back!

Tiny jewel in the Foothills

This was the perfect spot for our long-weekend getaway. Granted it doesn’t look like much from the outside - just a little modern house, isolated in the hills above Murphys - but open the front door and you step into a jewel. This home has been decorated with the best of everything. Beautiful fabrics and furnishings, lovely artwork and rugs, soft cotton linens and towels, upmarket kitchen small appliances. Plus the owners kindly provided a basic pantry, including coffee for the early morning sunrise over a glorious forest view. It has a lovely deck with BBQ if the weather permits. We enjoyed cheese and wine out there every day.

We've been coming to Murphys as a get away for over 15 years. We love all the diverse activities that Calaveras County has to offer. We have always dreamed of having a place of our own in Murphys and have looked at properties in the area for over 10 years. We always prefer to stay in vacation rentals because it allows us to see different areas and different neighborhoods. We first rented this property in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the beautifully decorated cottage, the amazing view and the perfect combination of being away from it all but close to downtown. We were lucky enough to purchase it furnished in 2020. The previous owner, an interior designer, designed and decorated the cottage to be well appointed, comfortable and full of color.
As the new owners we will not be changing a thing! We invite those of you who previously stayed on this property to join us once again. We are happy to continue to share this unique and beautiful property with other travelers.
