You will love this bright, clean and characterful apartment with its south-facing terrace garden, just a short stroll away from the historic centre of Mijas Pueblo, a picturesque Andalucian white village.
Part of a complex with shared pool and sun terrace, it has everything you need, including sea views, terrace, secure parking, aircon, WiFi and TV. It sleeps 4 people, but is ideal for 3. We regret: NO CHILDREN during July and August.
This cheerful and comfortable apartment is well looked after and has a lovely terrace garden.
The apartment is a colourful, bright and comfortable space. We’re not partial to the insipid and generic ambience one sometimes finds in rentals, so we’ve gone for cheerful colours and a homely atmosphere, brightened by the sun which enters the living room and main bedroom through the French windows from the south-facing terrace garden (but never fear, if it gets too bright there are shutters and curtains!).
The terrace garden, which runs along the front of the apartment, has great views down to the Mediterranean Sea, and can be accessed from both the living room and main bedroom. Part of it is covered, so you can find a shady place to sit even when the sun is up. There is a large solid dining table and wooden chairs, reclining chairs and bookshelves.
The main living area has a sofa and comfy chairs, a large dining table, side tables and a cabinet with books (English, German, Spanish) for the bookworms among you. We have fast fibre-optic WiFi, TV (with UK channels via internet), DVD and CD players, and a Bluetooth speaker.
The kitchen has everything you need – hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster, all the utensils, as well as a range of teas, spices and basic store items. We provide you with a bottle of wine, one of water and one of milk, as well as an array of fruits and the makings of a quick pasta meal, so you don't have to rush off to the supermarket first thing. Especially handy if your plane arrives late at night!
The main bedroom, which is next to the living room, has a comfy super-kingsize bed, a spacious wardrobe, chest of drawers, armchair and large mirror. The ensuite bathroom has a bath and a good shower.
The second bedroom, which has access to the shared back patio with plants, has a large wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, and two single beds (one stashed underneath the other if not needed). It sleeps two people, but there is not a lot of space, so ideal for one person (see photos - one with single bed and one with two beds set up).
The second bathroom has a shower cubicle and a washing machine. We also have two drying racks.
We provide cotton sheets, towels, pool towels, hairdryer, iron and electric plug adapters for UK and US appliances.
Swimming pool and sun terrace:
During the July/August high season the community swimming pool and sun terrace area can get quite crowded. It is not a large pool, and for safety reasons there are strict community rules about using it and the adjoining sun terrace, which must be complied with by all in order to retain our pool license. Briefly these are:
* Opening hours 10am to 8pm
* Anybody not staying in an apartment in the community is not allowed to use pool and sun terrace, including family and friends staying elsewhere
* No jumping into the pool
* No inflatables
* Quiet period during "siesta" hours
* No reserving sunbeds or sunshades
* No drinking glasses or bottles
* No food to be consumed
* No music except through personal headphones
So if your aim is to have a relaxing holiday sitting by the pool with the kids, it may not be the perfect location for you, and you may want to try for a place with a private pool.
Getting around:
The apartment comes with secure private off-street parking, in case you want to hire a car. If you’re driving, bear in mind that the streets in Mijas Pueblo are narrow and mostly one-way, which means most people get lost the first time. So if you’re coming by car, give us a call and we can meet you at the BP station at the entrance to the village and guide you through.
If you don't want to hire a car, you can take a taxi from/to Malaga Airport (just a 20mins to half-hour drive). A cheaper option is the train from the airport to Fuengirola (40mins). There you can catch the M122 bus to Mijas Pueblo (15min journey), where the bus terminates. We will meet you at the bus stop, which is just a 10 minute walk from the apartment.
Hiring a car is a good idea to make the most of the area, but you don’t need one. The apartment is in the village and everything you need is within walking distance. Public transport here is good and reliable. There are regular buses from the Pueblo down to the coast (Fuengirola and Benalmadena) or to Coin, inland. An excellent trainline runs along the coast from Fuengirola to Malaga, including an airport stop. Trains run every 20 mins, they are punctual, clean and air-conditioned. You could even visit destinations further away, for example Granada or Ronda, without the use of a car as coach travel here is cheap, comfortable and reliable.
