It was such a pleasure to stay at Ginko Lodge. The house was so comfortable and in a beautiful area of the Gippsland Lakes perfect for a getaway. We had our dog with us and that was absolutely no problem having her in the house. We found the hosts extremely accommodating and would recommend this place.
Myself, my partner and our dog Bonti lived our stay at the Gingko Lodge. Our dog loved playing with Mae and the views were spectacular. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Super clean and amazing place! We had the best holiday here, very relaxing with superb views! It had everything that we needed, absolutely everything! Thanks Joy and Jeff!
Loved this poured-earth lodge, such cool and calm vibes, beautifully appointed and with a gorgeous outlook. Joy and Jeff were personable and welcoming, and we loved exploring this region
Awesome surroundings, very friendly and accommodating hosts. Everything we needed to make the stay comfortable and memorable was provided. Would definitely love to return!

Anne and Annette were lovely guests, and we are glad that they enjoyed their stay at Gingko Lodge. We think that we live in a special part of Australia and love to hear that others have enjoyed their time in East Gippsland too.
Ginkgo lodge was great. Perfect for a winter break. Cosy, clean and had everything you need to be comfortable. Lots of little touches to make it unique and the view from patio was lovely.
Great place to stay for peace and quiet. Stayed for 2 nights on our way to Melbourne. Hosts on site and really friendly. Greeted by the hosts dog when we arrived who made friends with our dog. We even saw a wombat in the garden. Would certainly stay again next time we travelled.
I spent delightful four nights at Gingko Lodge on a bit of a solo winter retreat (with my two dogs). It was a delightful, peaceful, comfortable and relaxing stay. The studio had a great wood fire, and north facing terrace was lovely to return home to each day after going out exploring. Definitely recommended.
We loved the accommodation, immediately aesthetically appealing and welcoming. Very cosy and clean. Warm, friendly and welcoming hosts, thanks so much for having us Joy and Geoff, and Mae of course, we loved meeting you. We will be back :)

About the host
Hosted by Joy Manley
Jeff and Joy have lived in East Gippsland for many years, in fact Joy grew up at Timbarra, near Buchan, on the family farm. They now live in Mossiface and love the area. They cannot imagine living anywhere else. Jeff and Joy are a practical couple couple who love to have a project to work on. For four years they juggled their paid jobs with building a Strawbale house at Timbarra and then renovated this poured earth building, now known as Gingko Lodge. The result is two unique buildings that are both comfortable and inspiring. Guests will love Gingko Lodge's beautiful textured walls, use of recycled and natural building materials and the general ambience created. Jeff and Joy have enjoyed adding lots of special touches to make their guests comfortable and to create a special stay for them.
Joy's love of gardening and art is evident in the beautiful garden and original art works on the walls of Gingko Lodge. Jeff has been a Tradie in the past and enjoys putting his many practical skills to use. He laughingly says that " Joy is the ideas person and he is the doer'.
Why they chose this property
The thing that attracted Jeff and Joy to this property was the location. Close to the pretty little town of Bruthen but surrounded by farms and beautiful views whilst benefiting from the sunny northerly aspect. A perfect location in their minds.
What makes this property unique
This unique open plan lodge is spacious and comfortable with a scrumptious king bed to sink into at the end of the day. Fluffy robes and sheep skin rugs make it easy to get up in the morning. The poured earth walls and rustic timber post and beam design hide a modern and spacious space with plenty of room to spread out. A modern well equipped kitchen with full stove, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The large bathroom includes a washing machine. There is a comfortable couch to curl up on in front of the fire on cold nights. Your hosts will have the fire burning when you arrive on chilly days. Some of Joy's original artwork hangs on the walls, some of which is available to buy as a momento of your stay. A large private courtyard includes a barbecue and wood fired chiminea heater. The building sits in a large garden with the hosts living on site. Guests have access to a grassy lawn with shady trees at the rear of the building. Pets are welcome. Mae, the resident border collie is friendly and loves to welcome visitors, especially dogs. She will invite them to come and play with her. Horses are welcome with a secure yard available for them. Horses are permitted on the rail trail. Or bring bikes because the East Gippsland Rail Trail stretching from Bairnsdale to Orbost is only 500 metres from Gingko Lodge.
