Welcome to Ranger Station! This lovely 4-bedroom rancher style home is nestled in the trees of a quite mountain neighborhood surrounded by protected public lands. Decorated throughout with vintage National Park artwork, and with private direct access to Dolly Sods Wilderness and Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Ranger Station is the perfect base camp for everything from refreshing nature walks to hiking, biking, paddling, and skiing adventures. Or just enjoy the outdoor decks and walk across the quiet country lane to a lovely gazebo on a scenic fishing pond. Ranger Station is minutes away by car from Timberline, White Grass and Canaan Valley ski areas, Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley state parks, and the charming mountain towns of Davis and Thomas, with their galleries, brew pubs, restaurants, and mountain music scene. Dog owners will love the huge fenced in yard! NEW for 2024: Complete renovation, including luxury wood floors, modern wood stove, tongue-and-groove ceilings, stunning new kitchen, spa-like bathrooms, high-end entertainment systems, appliances and lighting, new furnishings, backyard fire pit and beautiful new landscaping. New photos will be posted when the work is complete, estimated in April.

Nice getaway in the woods

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I frequent staying back in Old Timberline because I love the privacy, some of the houses let you bring your dog(s), and the private access to the hiking areas and ponds. We had a great stay but this place was probably one of my least favorite places we have stayed. I loved the theme and the back yard was really private which was nice. The house is right off the road with other houses nearby so the front wasn't quite as private.It was a little outdated inside and didn't have quite as nice amenities as we usually stay and a little more run down if I'm being honest. We probably won't go back to this place but it did make a nice getaway for a week's trip.

Summer Fun

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great central location for our family of 5 to explore the sites of Canaan Valley and surrounding areas. We made good use of the fishing pond across the street and yard games and bikes in the garage were a happy surprise. Kitchen was well stocked and house well maintained. We were nervous about having no A/C in July but the mountain air was cool and breezy and surrounding trees gave shade and privacy. The private trail access to Dolly Sods as well as the access to 2 larger ponds and community trails were wonderful and a nice bonus.

Great cabin

We loved staying at the Ranger Station. It had a lake across the street which was fun for the kids to explore around it and the backyard being fenced in yet wooded let the kids use their imagination of hiking. It was a great spot to come back after a day of hiking and grill out. Kitchen well stocked and beds comfy. Management easy to communicate with

Ranger Station at Timberline Mountain

Excellent property. We have kids in Virginia and Kentucky and this is roughly the mid point. Perfect. Lots of hiking and trails to enjoy and Canaan Valley was beautiful. Home is well equipped and has everything you need. 4 beds and 2 baths and very quiet. There are neighbors but they’re far enough away that it isn’t an issue. Would definitely stay again.
