Bliss on the Blackwood

It is a wonderful location and very comfortable gleaming in the tent on the bank of the river. We enjoyed a delightful evening in the company of Sony and Matthew. Sony’s food was superb and excellent value. We were only staying one night but it would have been lovely to spend some more time enjoying the peace and tranquility as well as the company of the hosts.

Minimoon recharge

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing little getaway for our minimoon to recharge after our wedding and end of a busy year whilst we wait for WA boarders to re-open and this was just perfect! Sony and Mathew are such wonderful hosts, they are incredibly generous, welcoming and Sony's cooking is beyond amazing! We shared a delightful NYE with Sony, Mathew and their son George and got to learn of their journey to Perth and how they came to be at their property and what they have developed on their land so far. They have such passion for their land and nature, it's very inspiring. The tent is located right on the waters edge and the afternoon breeze managed to keep it a lot cooler than we expected in the hot summer weather. The tent is very spacious and well equipped. We really enjoyed cooking our breakfast on the BBQ each morning on the deck and breathing in the fresh air whilst we took in all the sounds of the birds in the trees around us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again :)

Nature Therapy

We loved our stay in the glamping tent. Sony and Mathew are amazingly generous & we enjoyed the amazing platter and wine by the fire the first night with them. The property is so beautiful, we spent hours walking the property in awe of it's beauty. So relaxing, so peaceful that whilst I was there I booked again to go with my daughter ❤️

First class views, hospitality AND food!!

Arrival was lovely as we were greeted by Sony and Mathew who gave us a tour of the layout of property. The first thing you’ll notice is the photos don’t do the views justice. Stunning and right on river bank which was nice and high for our stay. We took advantage of the Sonys offer of food and had 3 divine courses of better quality than I’ve had at many restaurants. If you’re looking for a river side chalet/glamping experience you’d go a long way to find better than this

We had the most lovely 2 night winter getaway!! The scenery is beautiful, the accomodation cosy and comfortable but above all else the hospitality from Sony and Mathew was nothing short of AMAZING!!! We felt so welcome from the get go and really enjoyed sharing conversation and wine by the fire in the evening. They were also nice enough to show us around their property. Thank you!! Amazing weekend stay!

I booked the glamping tent for a get away weekend for my partner & I. Chill time from our children & a belated birthday surprise. Sony & Mathew are such lovely people, we felt very welcome. We were invited for a wine & nibbles on our first nights stay. Many laughs had & great insightful conversations. Soon 3.5hrs had past. The tent is spacious & right in front of the beautiful blackwood river. I had a great time on their kayak. All in all a great stay. We will be back. 😊

A heavenly slice of pristine country living in the heart of the South West

My family spent three wonderful nights on this beautiful property on the banks of the Blackwood river. We lived many hours during the day paddling the shallow waters on a little kayak up and down the river’s gently tortuous course. For the differently inclined, a swim in the warm waters and hunting for unsuspecting fish are only a thought (and a few footsteps) away. Late evenings and early nights serenely pass us by as we watch resident ducks paddle aimlessly across the undulating ripples. And we sooth ourselves to restful sleep lulled by the tunes of the caressing western breeze as it wafts across the flat plains and into the cool tent. We sleep-in every day and wake up to a stoked breakfast of crunchy cereal, locally produced fruits, fresh bread, delicate cheese, home-made jam and creamy milk. Dinner (ordered separately) is served in the homestead nearby and is a more luxurious, almost decadent, experience. Sony is an amazing cook who would easily give any Michelin-starred chef a run for his money. Sony and Mathew are delightful hosts who live close-by. Their little personal touches make it more special. They will even happily take you on a rambling tour of their dream farm where they passionately grow turmeric (of ancient medicinal fame and a modern day saffron-coloured superfood) and other exotic flora. We had a special time there and we brought home beautiful memories (in addition to a fragrant turmeric). We loved the togetherness of our family in the tent, the calm tranquillity of the river water gliding by, the long slow walks on endless green pastures, the relaxed meandering drives through pristine countryside, the peaceful rhythm of our amateur kayaking (broken only by the cooing of startled ducklings), the celestial dance high above the open rustic shower (where you get to feel the crisp country air on your wet cheeks instead of cold bathroom tiles on bare feet), the amazing nourishing food, and above all, the warm hospitality. We even made friends with a meditative old frog in a pensive trance and a curious young joey whose protective mum watched over us from a wary distance. Only a myriad placid sheep ignored us. As an experience that was both off-the-beaten track and beat our every expectation, it was just perfect!!

A New Year's Eve To Remember

My girlfriend and I were looking for a last minute getaway on New Year's Eve and stumbled upon the perfect place on Sony and Matthew's property. It turned out to be an unforgettable experience - the tent is much bigger and more luxurious than we anticipated, so we were very impressed when we arrived. We shared dinner with Sony, Matthew and George in the evening, and they made every effort to ensure we were well fed and looked after - with some fascinating insight into their life story. Overall, a New Year's Eve to remember - we can't thank Sony and Matthew enough for their kindness and hospitality!

A fabulous place to stay

We were a bit uncertain what to do on arrival, the was no formal driveway access. We also did not realise the main house was 15m from the tent. But we were very pleasantly surprised in a number ways: -The hosts, Matthew and Sony, greeted us personally and were very welcoming. They gave us a beautiful fruit platter with their home made jams and chutneys. Clearly they like to entertain. I wish we had been able to enjoy one of their banquets, but it would have been lost on our kids. -The tent was truly massive, it’s the same build as the Rottnest glamping tents, with power and a light. ~12-15sqm plus a deck and a small table & chairs. Solid wood floors and on stilts. Right overlooking the river. -There was lots of space, access to the river and peace. -The fireplace was wonderful and there was plenty of wood chopped. Matthew and Sony has set the fire for us on arrival. -We would have preferred closer access to the toilet and a fully enclosed shower, but we were there to camp and would go back in a flash. -Matthew and Sony are wonderful people, we and our kids had a really nice time. They even loaned us a kayak. Summing up, Matthew and Sony truly under-sell this place; the tent, the site and their hospitality.
