About this property
Ricketts Glen Retreat
This mountain home is the bigger of our 2 rentals near Ricketts Glen state park. We just finished renovating and are very pleased with the result. This property which was my grandparents actually borders Ricketts Glen. I have many fond memories hunting and hiking the mountain and coming back to my Gram’s exceptional cooking. This home is situated off of Hynick road tucked in on the western border of Ricketts Glen on 10 private acres. Walking distance from the falls!

Great house to stay just outside the Falls Trail (trail with 21 waterfalls) at Ricketts Glen. The kitchen was nicely equipped with everything we needed to cook meals between hiking. The fire pit was so nice in the evening after hiking during the day. We would stay here again!
The location was perfect for day hiking and close to a Dollar General for basics. We enjoyed the Evergreen Trail with dogs, then Cherry Run Loop and Falls Trail during our stay. Bringing bedding/towels added extra luggage, but doable. Very peaceful and pet friendly. We required no assistance during our stay and we were able to check in early which was much appreciated! We would definitely stay again! The kids (teeangers) enjoyed the ping pong, chess and other games available. Lots of various wildlife poop on property....but we didn't get to see anything fun (or scary) while there aside from a friendly grey cat. :) Highly recommend!
This was my second time at this property. I love this beautiful place. It is very convenient for hiking at Ricketts Glen. The host is a great communicator and responds very quickly to questions. The house is immaculate, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would book again without question.
This is a really lovely house and very comfortable. We were only two people staying and had lots of room, but the house can accommodate many more. The kitchen was great for cooking and the game room was lots of fun. The location off of the highway made it a very quiet place. As others have mentioned, you need to buy a bag of ice if you like using ice. You also need to bring your own linens and towels, which was a little inconvenient, but the comfort of the home made up for it.
The peaceful house has plenty of room and is in a beautiful area to explore nature. We walked to the falls trail at Ricketts Glen and had bonfires every night.
Loved the location. It’s very private with a huge yard. It’s really nice the owner can provide firewood (small fee) and there are tongs to make s’ mores. All the basic supplies were there- toliet paper and dish soap. Basic kitchen spices, too. The bed we picked wasn’t great- sinks after a bit, but not terrible. Had fun playing games and watching TV. I will definitely rent again. The trails in the park are magnificent. Ice cream at Fran’s Dairy Barn is yummy! We took advantage of the nicely stocked kitchen to cook at home
The house is quaint and clean. The kitchen cabinets are very difficult to open and shut. Just old I guess. There were old pots and pans and not enough to cook one spaghetti meal. Most of the house was very clean. The upstairs tub was not clean. I should have been a more thorough reader of the details. Bringing towels, bedding for a family of 6 was a lot to pack for one weekend. Additionally there’s no dishwasher. Not a big deal, but time consuming as well. Location was great and the park is amazing.
Huge house ....great for our family..... The kitchen is great to cook in... And the out side fire pit was also large enough for us... We had a fire every night
Nice old farmhouse on a beautiful tree lined road. Great location very close to the park. The house was clean, but the inside of the refrigerator and microwave hadn’t been cleaned.
Reconnected with some close friends from 30+ yrs ago. Met here at the Vrbo and went on a journey to see the 21 waterfalls ffom Ricketts Glen. The beauty of the waterfalls was amazing
Thank you for your warm home environment.
Great location for exploring Ricketts Glen. My daughter's wedding was at Adams Falls, very close by. House was very old farm house, perfect for our country loving family. We rented both houses as we have a lot of kids and my parents were with us, too. Would stay again.
Jeff is an excellent host with a nice home in a great location to visit Ricketts Glen. House was clean with all amenities in working order. We plan on returning. Thank you Jeff.
The house and grounds were very nice and well kept. It was a very quiet, peaceful area and we enjoyed just sitting back and relaxing while the others went hiking or to the beach. I would definitely recommend this to others. The house, by the way, was an older home that has been remodeled and was beautiful.
We enjoyed our stay. We especially liked the den, the outdoor patio, and the rooster who came to visit. The house was large, clean, and had its own personality. Note: If you use a lot of ice, bring some ice cube trays with you.
This property was perfect for our weekend at Ricketts Glen State Park. The property is very close to the main entrance and was perfect for our weekend getaway. It was clean, well taken care of and we’ll stocked. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in the area!
The property is as described & as it looks in pictures. Very clean & spacious. Jeff stopped in the day we got there to see if we had any questions & to fill us in on what was available in the local community. Our stay was peaceful & quiet & very enjoyable. We plan to stay agsinsome time.
We rented it for 4 nights to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday with a few family members. It was perfect and no complaints. Owner Jeff is so friendly. Everyone enjoyed the game room and also a brief time at the outside fireplace.
