About this property

Relaxing, spacious cabin w/ hot tub and Starlink's high-speed internet service

Leave your stress behind and enjoy time spent with your family and/or friends in this 5 bedroom, spacious cabin. Easily accessible by all vehicles, this incredibly quiet and relaxing mountain escape is surrounded by Mother Nature’s brilliance, with regular visits from our “neighbors” such as elk, deer, moose, and a multitude of birds and chipmunks. This recently constructed 5-bedroom, 2-bath cabin sits on 20 acres surrounded by public Forest Service lands, with direct access to numerous activities. The cabin was built around the property’s original mining cabin, which now serves as one of the 5 themed guest rooms.

While the cabin is remote in nature, it is connected to the world with Starlink’s high-speed unlimited internet access (added Dec. 2021), allowing you to stream movies, make calls on your phone with WiFi calling, make video calls, check emails/texts, or even work remotely.

Activities are endless; horseshoes, bocce ball, folfing, lasso golf, swimming in the pond, fishing on the property, mountain biking, relax on any one of the 4 decks, soak in the 7 person hot tub, or even take a nap in one of the hammocks placed throughout the property. Enjoy the beauty that the surrounding Selway-Bitterroot Forest has to offer with day hikes to mountain lakes or fishing on the West Fork River. Visit one of a number of fire lookouts in the area for spectacular, endless views, or take day trips to visit places like Big Hole National Battlefield, Bannack Ghost Town, Historic Virginia City, or Lost Trail Ski Area. End your day by sitting next to a campfire, making smores, sharing stories of the day, and gazing up at the magnificent starry sky. Do any or all of these, or simply choose to do nothing at all.

The Town of Darby, which is located 40 minutes away, is where you will find the closest grocery store, restaurants, and other great stores to explore. The nearest airport is the Missoula International Airport located in Missoula just under 2 hours away.

About the host

Hosted by Jerry & Dawn Schreiber

Host profile image
Jerry & Dawn Schreiber are the owners of the property. They built their original log cabin on the property to be a family vacation spot as their four kids were growing up. They have since retired and now spend the majority of their time at this place. With their kids now grown with families of their own, the original place would get crowded whenever the whole family could get together. So, they decided it was time to expand and build a new cabin on the property that could accommodate everyone. They also realized that they had an incredible location for other families, like their own, to gather and make memories that would last a lifetime. It is because of this that they decided to share this new property with others, through VRBO, looking to create the same type special family memories that they have enjoyed for decades.

Why they chose this property

This property was originally purchased in 1965 by Jerry Schreiber's parents, who had visited the area for years prior to their purchase. The property has been host to numerous family reunions since then and is now being enjoyed by the fourth generation of the family.
