The Swan Shack is a charming beach home located in the subdivision of Swan Beach. This 4 bedroom, 3 bath home is tucked away offering a private setting and easy beach access to the Atlantic Ocean. This home features a small theater area, large kitchen with center island, two sundecks, a loft, a hot tub on the second level deck, and a nice private pool! You will enjoy all of the amenities this home has to offer, along with living the beach life of Corolla. The wild Spanish Mustangs roam the area along with other Corolla wildlife for your enjoyment.

We enjoyed our stay at the Swan Shack.

Overall we had an amazing experience. The house was only a 15 minute drive back to the black top & shopping. Having a pool & hot tub was terrific. The kitchen was well stocked. We would recommend this home.

Great house

Lots of deck space. Pool is wonderful. Hot tub a nice touch. PAC man was so fun. Bedrooms and bathrooms were accommodating. Kitchen well equipped.

Plenty of space for everyone to spread out as well. Well equipped with games for the kids, beach gear, and an overabundance of kitchen items. We woke up one morning to 5 wild horses in the front yard. What a great surprise! We enjoyed the fact that this place is quiet and secluded but just a five minute drive to the wide expanse of the oceanfront.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is perfect for lazy days at the beach watching the wild horses. The only downside is very very slow/weak wifi. The grill was dirty and unusable. We have stayed here before and felt this time we payed a little more and got a little less in return. I would absolutely stay again but prepare my meals a little differently. Overall still a great place to stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 2nd year at The Swan Shack (6th on Carova with Beach Realty), and we had an amazing trip, as always. The additional deck by the pool area was a fantastic surprise, and the new decks were a nice touch. There were some small changes made inside to allow renters more room for their items, and our group really appreciated that. The washing machine broke while we were there, and being 4th of July week, they were unable to get it repaired until we left, but these things happen. Beach Realty was quite apologetic, and we received a personal note from the Owner offering their apologies and a gift card or something to make up for the inconvenience; in this day, the personal apology in itself was more than we expected and we all felt it was more than enough to make up for a minor inconvenience. We've already booked for next year and look forward to seeing what other upgrades they may make (screened in front porch, perhaps? 😁).

The only thing that could have been improved was the condition of the decks. We spent a good amount too time out there and it’s definitely in need of repairs. Other than that, no complaints! Would definitely recommend for an affordable, adventurous, relaxing vacation!

Reviewer Comments: This was our first year staying at The Swan Shack, but our 5th year in a Beach Realty property at Carova, and once again, they didn't disappoint. The house was a bit "cozier" than the pictures make it appear, but well stocked in terms of kitchen equipment, linens, and beach gear. The pool was a wonderful addition to our vacation, but a pool vacuum would come in handy- it was rather sandy when we arrived and though we rinsed off before getting in, it only got worse throughout the week (I realize it is impossible to keep the sand out of a pool that is surrounded by sand). The bedroom with the twins includes one bed with a permanent rail on it, which wasn't great for our plans of pushing the beds together to make a larger bed for our adult child, but he survived 😀. I would recommend removing some of the excess furniture (extra microwave, small table in lower level) to allow room for guest items, but none of this was a huge deterrent for us - we've already booked for next year!

The distance was a little far but can't complain when seeing the wild Mustangs in the yard as your cooking on the grill. Pool was nice and the hot tub we didn't use while being there. Overall a great place to stay if wanna have privacy and enjoy driving in the sand.

The rental company and owner were very responsive when we had TV issues. The pool and hot tub were great, and we appreciated having beach chairs and umbrellas at the house for our use. So much wildlife to enjoy right from the porch-horses, turtles, frogs, owls, osprey....Would DEFINITELY stay here again!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The good- location. It's super cool to live "with" the wild horses. Beach is a quick drive.The bad-programmed thermostat would change the temperature multiple times a day, based on some unknown schedule, sometimes just minutes after I manually adjusted it. Bedrooms upstairs did not cool well, and on top of that the program would set the temp at 78 sometime overnight so we'd wake up sweating. I messaged the realty company twice about this--then I just gave up. This felt invasive, to say the least.Beds are all NOISY. the slightest movement causes enough noise to wake up anyone else in the room.kitchen faucet was about to fall out.there's almost nowhere to sit comfortably. There's a MASSIVE kitchen island which only leaves room upstairs for a single couch--in a house that sleeps 10, that is nowhere near enough seating, unless you want everyone to sit on (too tall) stools.oh and the bugs! the pool had a constant layer of dead bugs floating in it. And the Hot tub couldn't really be used after sunset without being inundated by bugs--I'd recommend adding a screened porch. oh and we kept finding live wasps in the house.

Highly Disappointed!!

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are extremely upset following our trip using this rental company. During our stay there was a flash flood that left all the roads flooded and impassable. In certain sections there was several feet of water. While we understand weather happens, NOT ONCE did the rental company (despite a major thunderstorm with flash flood warnings) reach out to check with us or ask if we needed help. We are thankful to a neighbor who helped us! This resulted in two days of vacation lost since we were literally stuck! Thank god no one had an emergency and we were fully stocked with food! Lastly, despite calling the office, the pool left our kids skin so irritated it left scabs on them. The maintenance said someone came to check, but that’s impossible since it turned green. Lastly, There was also mice at this property...since we found plugs to prevent rodents & heard them in the house at night.

Reviewer Comments: This beach house set up is beautiful but definitely needed a little more tlc mostly cleaning was the issue the pool said it was done and still had a ton of stuff on the bottom not just sand the house nothing seemed cleaned we wiped all countertops off prior to being able to but anything on them and at the end of the week when cleaning up like your supposed to my mom swept under her bed to find dust bunnies and their babies and a receipt from the beginning of June so it at least wasn’t done since then. The location was private there was a neighbor that seemed annoyed to have vacationers near including the only road to the house has a private property sign next to it saying violators will be prosecuted. All in all it was beautiful I would rent there again any issues were handled quickly nothing was major I love driving my Jeep on the beach hope to visit carova again next year

I was told by the rental company the the owner had control over the thermostat (it was set 74-77) I contacted the rental company several times over the week explains how warm the house was. I was told the owner has control and that the WiFi was out and thermostat could not be changed. This was unacceptable I didn’t expect to pay $$$ to be hot all week. Very disappointed.

OBX Vacation

Great trip overall. We were missing a coffee pot and the hot tub was not warming up, but the property manager fixed those issues almost immediately. Pool is small. Not many pots and pans suitable for large meals for groups. Listing stated that beach passes were included but they were not. If you need any basics for cooking (spices, oils, etc) make sure to bring them. Owner did provide a water cooler and five 5gallon jugs of water for our use.

Spacious and dog friendly

We had two dogs that were able to have their own spaces one upstairs and one down with separate entrances. The house was a bit further from the beach than we anticipated but it was in a beautiful and private location. We had many opportunities to see wild horses on our neighborhood. The house was well stocked with things to do as far as games, videos, TV, and swimming fun. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable! The microwave and dryer did not work and the vacuum cleaner at the house did not work when we wanted to clean up sand and dog hair. The hot tub was old but functional. The pool was very nice but should have been cleaned before we got there. The property was not maintained in the sense that we found trash scattered around the outside of the house. Overall, a beautiful place that needs just a bit more attention.
