Mins to 5-Points/Outdoor Awning-Highland Hideaway

Summary:
Welcome to Highland Hideaway! Our home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, accommodating up to 13 guests! This is a great place for families and friends traveling together. We are within walking distance of many restaurants and less than a mile from the hospital and UAB. Pets are welcome with a fee. We would love to host you!

The Space:
The front of the home has many steps leading to the door, and the driveway is steep; this might be challenging for some guests. An easier parking option is to use the alleyway behind the home. Between the driveway and alleyway, we can accommodate four vehicles. Guests will enter through the front door (by climbing the front exterior stairs; please review the listing photos to see the stairs) or through the back door from the alleyway using a digital keypad.
Enjoy a comfortable living room, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, and onsite laundry.
Head downstairs into the basement converted into the fourth bedroom with two full beds. The other three bedrooms are upstairs: bedroom one with a king, bedroom two with a queen, and bedroom three with one twin and one twin-over-twin bunk bed.
Outside, enjoy a covered deck area in the back and fenced-in yard.

Guest Access:
The house has a digital combo lock pad. We will provide you with the code 24 hours prior to your arrival.

The Neighborhood:
This house is conveniently located in a residential area. Walking distance to UAB, Avondale, Lakeview, or downtown restaurants, you don’t have to go far to find what you are looking for!

Getting Around:
While we are with in walking distance to many of the best of Birmingham, Uber and Lyft also service our area.

Other Things to Note:
We require a signed rental agreement and for guest to be 25 years of age to book.

If you notify us of your intent to cancel prior to the lapse of the free cancellation period, we will return 97% of your payment. The other 3% will already have been collected by the credit card processing company, and we have no way to return that portion of the payment.

The front driveway is pretty steep but there is ample parking in the alley in back! Please do not park in the street.

We are a pet friendly home. Pets must be crated when they are left unattended in the home. We do not allow pets on furniture or beds, and all waste must be cleaned up from the yard. All pets require a non-refundable pet fee. If there is evidence of pet hair on the furniture, excess hair in the home, stains, or waste found in the yard or home, you will be charged the cost to clean this. In the event that a security deposit is collected, we will retain all or part of the security deposit to cover any costs associated with additional cleaning due to pets.

Interaction with Guests:
We want to provide our guests with maximum privacy and flexibility, so we have check-in and check-out automated. We will call and touch base on the phone, and we can always have someone come and help if you need it, but otherwise, we will leave you and your friends and family to spend time together.

Great Location
Very convenient location. Comfortable beds but some of the extra comforters were very dirty. Bad lighting. I had to purchase light bulbs to replace the burnt out ones and dim ones which I left for the next guest. Just glad that grocery was across the street. Back patio was covered in leaves and thick dirt. Kitchen sink disposer was broken and I did not get a heads up on that. Also, back door bottom seal was not attached, leaning on the wall. Toilets did not flush everytime and even then not well. Skillets were very worn out and teflon was peeling, not healthy.

Alabama Stay
My family stayed for a week as we needed to be in Birmingham for the week due to family issues. The process was quick and easy and the property is located in a good neighbourhood next to a golf course and a CVS and Piggly Wiggly. We were well taken care of!

We have lived in Birmingham for 10 years and were staying here as a transition during our move. Plenty of space, very clean when we came in! It’s an older home with an older AC unit so it takes a while to cook down. There were several bugs in the kitchen but that’s Birmingham and especially older homes.

Bathrooms were not clean abd need to be updated. Great location and good neighborhood. Has a lot of potential if the updates are done. We ended up leaving after the first night.

Why they chose this property

There is driveway parking or rear access parking and can accommodate 4 cars. The Entry we have set up to grant guests access via a key pad is on the front door. There are steps up to the door as indicated by the pictures. You will enter into the living room that is set up to be the central area to gather during your stay. The couch doubles as a sleeper sofa if your party wants an extra space to sleep. if you continue straight from the front door, you will walk into the newly renovated kitchen and dining area, plus the laundry area at the back of the dining nook. if you head down stairs into the basement, you will see that it has been converted to the fourth bedroom, and has two full beds and a couch that also doubles as a sleeper sofa. Back upstairs you will find the other three bedrooms. 1 with a King, 2 with a queen and a sofa, and 3 with two twins and a futon.
Out back we have a wonderfully covered deck area, a fenced in yard and a parking pad to fit the rest of your party's vehicles
