About the host
Hosted by D R McPharlin
We are "the kids". We summered here all our growing years. We get here as often as we can, taking turns loving, caring for, and enjoying our special place. We have played on the beach and in the woods for decades. Family gatherings here are a treasured tradition. Welcome to your own gatherings and memories, we hope they are as treasured as our own.
Why they chose this property
This beautiful, private land has been in our family for multiple generations. The lake house is built on a corner of the original family land. Thirty acres above the waterfront property were donated to the Little Traverse Conservancy. Over three acres are retained as part of the waterfront home. The cabin is open for paid guests, during weeks when the family is not using it. We are pleased to be able to share our piece of heaven with others. In the "off" season, we lower the rental fee, which makes it possible to host couples and artists for a lower cost getaway.
What makes this property unique
Just being down here on the big lake is a peaceful and refreshing experience. After a few days, you can feel yourself unwind and feel at home. Being close to the lake, the weather and wildlife is good for the soul. The sun doesn't always shine. Sometimes there are storms. They are wild and beautiful. Being close to the variety of weather is all part of the experience.
