This is a great big house which has loads of space inside and outside. 2 kitchens mean lots of people can cook and 2 fireplaces, lounge rooms and grounds mean that there is plenty of space to wind down and relax. The 2 houses are separated by a lockable door Ruapehu and Ohakune town centre are 5 mins by car. Tennis courts at the end of the drive and a fantastic 18 hole golf course 15 mins drive away. Swimming holes in the stream or the Ohakune pool. Great family times to be had. BYO LINEN

Stayed here with a group of ten to do the Tongariro Crossing.
Cool place. Could be cleaner. Fans would be good, bedrooms were stinking hot.
Don't expect to sleep in, roosters wake you up at 5.30am.
Otherwise awesome, good facilities and we had a great time.

Hi Monica, I'm really sorry about the rooster. He isn't actually ours, he just showed up one day and I have been trying to find out where he came from but I think it might just be time for coq au vin. In terms of cleanliness, could you be more specific because I paid $100 for a clean the day before you arrived.
First of all, communication with the owner is very easy. She was very helpful with lots of details and very flexible with some of my requests.
This is a nice spacious property with a wonderful view of the mountain, and a nicely isolated farmhouse just at the edge of the town. Easily accessible location with a nice walk to the city center.
We had quite a large group with infants, toddlers to small kids' (no teens :) ).
Other than a bit steep staircase, the house nicely fit our friends and family team
Other than the white goat next door, who was not much happy with our presence :) , our kids really enjoyed the spacious garden, swing, and indeed the chicken.
Overall, it was a very pleasant, memorable 3 night's stay. Thanks again for the Owner.
Firstly, we enjoyed our stay. The property had plenty of space and it worked really well for our large group. Loved that about it.
We didn't feel it was overly clean and there were cobwebs and spiders in every room. Both of the toilets smelt quite strong of urine but otherwise appeared somewhat clean.
The BBQ was so greasy, it caught fire. The hotplate was very dirty and we couldn't use it, which was a disappointment as that was our plan for dinners.
Lastly, the property has great character, is quiet and has a stunning view of the mountain. If it was cleaner, it would have been awesome!

Oh Bronwyn, I'm really sorry you had that experience. I am really surprised about your comments around the toilet and I'm even more surprised that you did not get in touch to tell me there was that problem as we had been communicating. I would have been more than happy to send my cleaner back in to rectify the problem if it was there when you arrived. Are you sure some of your party hadn't already used the toilets? There were a lot of you there. I don't know what to say except that I will make sure a really deep clean is done of those areas, I have never had that problem before. I also think you may have used our tenants bbq. We have one in the second barn but I probably didn't give you enough instructions to use our bbq. I will do better in making sure that is the more obvious option. I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves despite those things.
This property is a wonderful space. The lounge, dining, balcony and garden flow together and allowed us to be together while some read, others prepared meals and others played volleyball in the garden. Mount Ruapehu made a splendid backdrop to everything we did.. Highly recommended!!
Throughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location. Communication was excellent with owner. A great place for a family group, just need to keep a close eye on little ones with the indoor stair cases and outside with materials and stream (which we were already made aware of by owner). Met all our expectations and we were not disappointed.
