About this property

Muskoka Lakehouse Retreat - Family Friendly with Sandy Beach on Three Mile Lake

Welcome to our cottage on Three Mile Lake in Muskoka Lakes! Our oasis is located about 20 minutes from Bracebridge, Huntsville and Port Sydney and 30 minutes from Port Carling - all of which are great for shopping and dining. There is also a general store with LCBO and gas station minutes from our cottage. And we are only a 7-minute drive from the Diamond in the Ruff Golf Course, 25 minutes from Arrowhead Provincial Park, and 30 minutes from Hidden Valley Ski Resort.

The cottage has 4 bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 8 people (Room 1: 1 queen size bed, desk, closets, Room 2: 1 queen size bed, closet, dresser; Room 3: Bunk beds, closet, dresser; Room 4: 1 double bed, dresser).

The open concept kitchen and dining room have all the amenities that you should need. Attached to the kitchen and living room is a large deck complete with BBQ and a shaded pergola with a table and chairs for outdoor dinning and relaxing.

In the Summer, during the day, relax in one of the hammocks overlooking the water while your children build a sandcastle on the 100-foot sandy beach. Go for peddle boat ride, try paddle boarding, kayaking or join your kids jumping and playing on the giant Lilly Pad. And there is always the option to sit on the dock to enjoy the sun or even do a little fishing. After you’ve cooked up your catch of the day, why not grab a glass of wine and relax in a Muskoka chair around the glow of the firepit while your kids make smores.

When spending your time indoors, make yourself comfortable in the large living room complete with entertainment unit (SmartTV with Chromecast, electric fireplace), or you may want to spend time downstairs to read a book, play board games or enjoy some Foosball. If you are escaping the city, but have to work while you are here, the high-speed internet connection is fast enough for Zoom meetings or devices streaming Netflix.

In the Winter, enjoy all that Three Mile Lake has to offer. Set up your ice fishing hut and catch pickerel for dinner. Bring your snowmobile and make a day trip exploring the lake and connecting trails. And if the conditions are just right, maybe even go ice skating across the lake. And of course, the fire pit is still open for those of you interested in roasting marshmallows in the middle of winter. Aside from enjoy winter on Three Mile Lake, our cottage is close to Arrowhead Provincial Park (25 minutes) where you can go ice skating along along a 1.3km trail. Or go skiing, snowboarding, or sliding at Hidden Valley Resort (30 minutes).

Spacious Cottage on a Relaxing Lake
John was very communicative throughout our stay. He left us a welcome package that included helpful details about the cottage. The place was fully-equipped with kitchen supplies, which was great because we liked to cook. We especially loved the espresso machine! The place was just as advertised, except that it didn’t include basic soap and shampoo and a couple of us packed light and forgot to bring. It was much more spacious than we thought and we ended up not using the basement. We were 8 adults and the upstairs rooms were able to accommodate all of us. Plus, the basement was a little musky and didn’t have a lot windows anyway. We spent a majority of our time in the lake, it was very clam and peaceful. We were particularly grateful for all the water toys. We couldn’t jump off the dock because of all the seaweed, but we would paddle the giant foam raft out into the middle of the lake and jump off from there. Also, the dock was unstable and would often wobble when we walked across it. Unfortunately, we did encounter one impolite neighbour but overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the area was quiet.

A wonderful cottage experience
My family and I just returned from staying at this amazing cottage. The photos do not do the property justice. It has everything you need and more. We had a great time using the water equipment and having nightly fires and relaxing in the hammocks. It is such a beautiful and quiet lake. The host John was extremely helpful and responsive to all of our questions. We are hoping to return again next year if possible:)

Looked different than the photos showed
The property was a little older than we were expecting from the photos. The basement was not ideal for sleeping - very musty smelling and rooms were very small. You could not go for a swim without first going through a fair amount of seaweed and grasses to get to swimmable water. Both grandkids ended up with leaches on their feet - you need to be careful where you stand in the lake. The kitchen was very well stocked and had all utensils and appliances you needed. The back door has many bees coming and going all day, I believe there is a nest somewhere under the house siding.
