The space:

The Yurt Alpine Retreat (Green Yurt) is situated in the Victorian High Country on a working farm surrounded by natural bushland perched on top of a mountain ridge i in one of Victorias' best wine producing regiosn. The silence is golden. Within 20mins. fine restaurants and wineries. Beautiful and Unique cosy Yurt accommodation. It is great on a cold day sitting in the yurt by the wood stove looking out through the glass doors at the beautiful views. The Yurt is 6m diameter. There is an outdoor BBQ for cooking on and a small portable gas stove, or a small cast iron indoor stove which keeps it cosy in the cooler weather, there is also a small gas camp stove inside. There is also an outdoor bath which overlooks the valley.

In the morning you will hear the sound of many birds including kookaburras, black cockatoos and beautiful King Parrots. You will often see the resident eagle hovering overhead. In the evening you can enjoy the "sounds of silence" while you sample some of the regions best wines. Lot of kangaroos, wombats, cows and the odd porcupine will wander by. Towels and bedding provided and everything else you need apart from food. Gas heated shower and toilet with great views, all part of the glamping experience. The Yurt is cool in summer and warm in winter due to its thick lambswool felt underlay which encapsulates the yurt. At night you can see the stars through the glass dome in the roof. there are double doors one glass to see the fantastic views and the other beautifully painted wood. Plenty of space for outdoor parking. Public transport non existent out here.

You might like to explore the many attractions i.e. many wineries, cheese factory, Paradise Falls, the Ned Kelly trail. Harry Power's lookout. There are some unique and fine dining wineries within a 20 min. drive of the Yurt. the nearest shopping centre is 40mins. away so you will need to stock up in Benalla or Wangaratta before you arrive. you will see fabulous 360 degree panoramic views of the King Valley if you take a walk along our mountain ridge. You can return for a glass of chilled local wine and just listen to the sounds of silence. If you want to experiment with bush cooking you can cook a camp stew in a cast iron pot. This will be a unique way for you to enjoy the Australian bush and glamping experience downunder. The yurt is a genuine Mongolian ger/yurt. Not for those wanting five star accommodation but for those wanting a unique glamping experience you will love it. We describe our property as Mongolian with an aussie twist.

Paradise Falls,
Lake Hume and Hovell,

Ah the serenity

As if the unique experience of staying in a yurt weren’t enough, the views were extraordinary, even when having a shower. The yurt is so cosy, and the outdoor area is set up for maximum comfort and enjoyment of the natural surroundings. A great place to stay if you’re looking for solitude, serenity and silence.
