This property is very comfortable, nice and clean. Our family spent 2 days in this property, enjoying the sunset mountain view with the snow on mountain top, the outdoor bath, the quiet night and even the aurora (cannot believe it) This stay is so comfortable, it is a highlight of out trip.

It was a pleasure to host Yu and family we are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
What a wonderful and memorable stay to get away from it all for our family of five plus greyhound. The house was so warm, full of character, and what a treat to sit by the fire in that Eames chair with that incredible scenery. Every window frames a stunning view. The bathroom and all amenities were new, very clean and had real design flair. Everything in this home has been considered. A truly unique part of the country (world, even), we enjoyed river walks, the local Cafe, the nearby waterfalls and the iconic blue pools. Wanaka was 40 minutes away and we never tired of the dramatic lakeside drive each time. This is a very special place and we would love to return.

Thanks so much for Jacq and Tom for sharing your beautiful house.
It is sooo beautiful, that you just want to stay there the whole time watching the spectacular scenery changing by the minute. It is like watching a national geographic movie 360º. The playful neighbors are sheep, birds and deers. :-)
The fireplace is easy to use, and very handy. the kitchen has all you need to make wonderful meals. Don’t forget to bring your supplies before arriving, because you won’t be wanting to go.
Tom and Jacq , thanks for the manual it makes all so easy.
I can’t wait to come back.

While a little further from the 'action' than we are used to the extra drive is worth it for the peace, quiet and those views. Plan ahead re food (can't just pop down to the local) and this is fantastic place to spend a break.
We loved our family holiday in this gorgeous house. Great spot for relaxing and soaking in the views or heading out to the local walks or lakes. A beautiful part of God’s creation. We will cherish the family memories we made staying here. Thank you!

Lovely spot, nice and quiet with lots of room to play in with our dog. Very nicely appointed house, with everything you could need. The beds were sooo comfortable, and great water pressure in the shower - 2 very important things!

Kia ora and G'day, Welcome to Makarora Bach. In 2015, on a spur of the moment long weekend across the ditch from home in the New South Wales Blue Mountains, we - Kiwi Tom and Aussie Jacq - were lucky enough to stumble upon our very own slice of heaven in this picturesque valley at the top of the lake. A field of wildflowers, big summer skies and the endless possibilities of a life on the land in NZ had us literally twirling, à la Julie Andrews, on the 2 hectare plot with the "For Sale" sign and obscenely beautiful views (cue The Hills Are Alive...). The following year, Tom endured several weeks in a freezing 1960's caravan to build our bach, watched over by the imposing figure of Mount Aeolus, Keeper of the Winds. And boy can it blow here. Hence @always_take_the_weather. Family holidays since have cemented Makarora in our hearts and minds. It's hard not to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of this landscape which can, in turn and all at once, be sublime and intimidating. And we wouldn't be lying when we admit that the grandeur of the region has reduced us to tears on occasion. We hope you enjoy your time at Makarora Bach as much as we do. Tom and Jacq
