Not really a true ski-in/ski-out, but spacious and wonderful
Kathryn's place is spacious, clean, very comfortable and beautiful. Kathryn was quick to answer questions (even though she was in New Zealand at the time). Garage is spacious. Beds were comfortable. Neighborhood is very nice and quite. Things I wish I had asked/known about ahead of time are: 1) that it isn't a true ski in/ski out place (I'm over 60 and do 4-6 western trips per year and have stayed at lots of true ski in ski out places). To get to the slope you have to climb 108 stairs at the end of the cull de sac and then walk uphill for about 100 yards on trail. Getting back is much easier, can ski down to the stairs and then walk down. The climb up is doable if in shape, but at my age I prefer to save my quads for the slopes. 2) There are lots of TVs but no cable or streaming service. Instead there is an awesome collection of dvds. I'm a sports fan, so not being able to watch the games on TV w family was suboptimal. I wrestled with giving 4 or 5 stars because the place and Kathryn are awesome (wish I could give 4.5). If I was in my 30 or 40s and didn't care about TV, it would definitely be 5 stars...and Kathryn is 5 stars, but my need to get a ride to the base led to a 4 stars. Again, place is very spacious and comfortable. If you are in good shape and don't care about TV the place is highly recommended.
Lots of space, well stocked kitchen. It is a walk up stairs and hill to get to the ski out/ski in. OK for us but could be an issue for those who are physically challenged.
We've stayed all over Whistler in many different places. Kathleen's absolutely takes the cake. A handful of highlights:
1. Location location location. Literally does not get any better if you're biking or skiing
2. Great space. The unit just flows well, feels open, lots of light and feels good to be in
3. Stocked. Everything you need for cooking, and staying more than just a few days
4. Nice bedding.
5. Clean and taken care of.
We will be back!
Whistler was one stop on a cross-BC road trip for my family visiting from Australia and France. The property was excellent. It had more than enough room and amenities for our group of 8. We had good access (by car) to Whistler townsite and the Blackcomb gondolas. Ovrerall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
We had three generations stay at the ski chalet. There was plenty of room for kids, parents, aunts and grandparents. The main living area was very spacious and had great puzzles and a large collection of films. The rooms were perfect and we slept great. A staircase at the end of the road led us right to the ski hill. The host was super helpful and responded quickly to all questions we had. We loved our holiday and hope to stay again. Thank you!
We had a wonderful three night stay in Whistler. Kathleen was very responsive to any questions we had. The accommodations are very spacious and the location is a 10 minute walk to the main village with convenient walk out/ski in. We had a great time and we would definitely stay here again.
We absolutely loved staying at Kathleen’s property and would book again if we make another trip!! House was so clean, access to the mountain was great, and most of all it was such a nice and quiet get away!
Kathleen’s condo was perfect for us. Big beds, enough bathrooms, spacious living area. Short walk to the village, but all uphill on the way back; we would cab it for $10. I highly recommend having your ski equipment valeted to one of the places in the village, as it’s not a fun trek in ski boots and carrying skis. Would for sure stay again.
The accommodation is very cozy and warm. Nice high vaulted ceiling. Rooms are big and the beds are very comfortable. Old style spacious bathtubs are really good. The double car garage comfortably fit our 2 SUVs, a 7 seater and a 5 seater, and is good to have in winter.
Lots of room for 3 girls.Great to have an underground parking spot.Kitchen had everything we could have needed if did want to cook(but we only used fridge..lol)
Kathleen was very nice letting us change our dates as something came up.
Such a lovely home to use as a base for exploring Whistler.
The place was spotless and very comfortable, with everything we could need. Whistler village was only a short walk away.
We loved our short stay in Kathleen’s place and would not hesitate to recommend it. Thanks!
We had a great stay - we were three couples, a baby and a pup and this space was more than big enough for us. It can be hard to find a place with 3 full bedrooms and bathrooms (2 were ensuites) so this was perfect. It was fairly close to the village, although we still mostly drove. Kathleen also did her best to accommodate us with an early check in and a change to our booking. It’s appreciated!
Wow. We've been coming to Whistler since 2009 and have stayed in many different places. From hotels, to houses in Blackcomb to Creekside we've seen it all. Kathleen's condo was far and above the best place we've stayed.
It was stocked very well, the kitchen had real pots and pans, little stuff like measuring spoons, coffee grinder and the best part...the knives were actually sharp!
The house was nicely decorated, spacious and a great place to hangout...it really had a home vibe not a hotel room kind of feel to it.
Linens - we've all slept on the cheap plastic linens where you wake up in the cold sweat...not at this place. Real cotton towels and sheets allow you to sleep well after a long day of outdoor adventure - absolute delight after it seems most places have gone the super cheap synthetic route.
Location - doesn't get any better...less than 5 minute walk to the village and SUPER quiet and low key. I didn't even know this neighborhood existed, it was great. Don't fear that its a middle unit...the light was great and air flow was very good.
Finally it would be a miss not to mention the DVD collection - for my wife and I this was a total throwback as I've not watched a DVD in many years...it was awesome. The constraint of choices was super fun and the movies the host has were all great. We had a blast watching movies that have not been on our radar for a long time.
Thank you Kathleen - we had an amazing stay and hope to be back soon again.
This is a great condo in Northern Lights -- very close to Whistler Village, but also set apart and quite. Great bedrooms, bathrooms, full kitchen. Spacious great room, high ceilings. A great place for our group to hang out. Our host was very attentive and communicative. A great rental & we hope to return! Thank you.
We stayed here with 8 friends and the place was beyond clean and overall lovely. Checking in was easy, there was beyond enough space for us, and the walk was decent to the village. One note is to beware of the driveway when going in and out of the garage in a sedan! We both scraped the bottom of our cars twice on the driveway.
BEAUTIFUL Property! Kathleen, the owner is very helpful and friendly
We rented this beautiful vacation townhome for the May long weekend. We LOVED our stay.
The property was very spacious, beautifully decorated and had great views of the mountains. It was very clean when we arrived and we were extremely pleased that there was lots of kitchen equipment for us to use for our large group.
I think one of the best things about this home was that it was right in the upper village and was walking distance to both the ski slopes/hiking trails and Whistler Village itself. Plus we did have some questions during our stay and Kathleen was very friendly and very helpful with our requests. We would definitely recommend this vacation home as a great place to stay. And, we look forward to coming back ourselves :)
