Overall was an enjoyable stay! The place was nice, clean and a great location. The only thing not advertised was the property is located in a place where all the neighbours allow people to use their yard by the shore to walk through, so there is a constant flow of people walking by when you are sottong outside. If you dont mind that then there are no other issues. Everything was comfortable, and clean. The area was nice and there was access right to the water for swimming with a beach front. Jordan responded quickly with any information needed. The place was clean and in an overall quiet area. Had a nice week with family.

Not for everybody
PROS- Sturgeon lake is lovely and the water was quite warm to swim in. Easy access to the lake.Spacious cottage with three bedroom and a bed in bunkie although could use some updating - quite rustic especially the kitchen. Nice routes to walk the dogs. 15 minute car ride to Lindsay for supplies. Only about 1 hour and 40minute drive from Toronto if you take the 407 which is a huge plus.
CONS- Would have appreciated to know that the waterfront area that the cottage is connected to is really like a public beach and there are strangers walking along the back yard with dogs leashed and unleashed to get to the lake and swim. Also big cars and trucks pulling up with motor boats to launch etc. Lots of noise. I was hoping for a lot more privacy. We brought two dogs who were constantly on alert as a result of the strangers walking by. So barking did occur. Again not so peaceful in that respect. But we did still manage to have some fun even though it was stressful at times. Best Adrienne Mitchell

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
Annoying 'Karen' neighbours all around
Pros:
Host: Jordan was great, responded quickly to questions.
Cottage: Spacious, clean, perfect waterfront access (swimming, boating).
Now the cons:
Public Path: A public path cuts through the backyard. While most were friendly, some were overly concerned with local bylaws, even questioning fire pit use.
Noisy Boat Launch: Next door, with frequent boat/jet ski noise and unleashed dogs. Twice, these dogs ran into our yard and attacked our leashed Husky who is 14 years old and has bad hips! Owners were unhelpful.
Fire Restrictions?: People told use we could not have bonfires due to bylaw restrictions, but we did so anyways since we saw the cottage beside us having them.
Unauthorized Renting Accusation: Disrupted our stay. Mid-trip, a city official arrived due to a complaint of 'unauthorized renting'. Despite having paid for the week, we had to verify our information. This really agitated me as we had spent good money for the week.
Great place with an amazing view! Fishing, swimming and lots of family fun! Cool private bunker!!
Really easy to book! Owner communicated quickly when I reached out.

About the host
Hosted by Jordan
My family has cottaged in the Kawartha's, on Sturgeon Lake for 16 years. We love the lake, and love all that the area has to offer. 4 seasons of great fun, and excellent people! Our cottage and the other owner's home are just down the street. We are close by if you need anything but will give you your space to enjoy all that 1 Rose Street has to offer.
Why they chose this property
If you are looking for a 'cottage experience', you have found it. Tall pine trees, a backyard firepit, level entry water for wading into, or a dock to jump off of. A very 'insta-worthy' backyard bar to enjoy evening cocktails while you watch the sun go down across the lake. This place has all the 'cottage feels', but still has enough amenities to make you feel comfortable. This is a great little neighborhood for walking around with a park only a block away.
What makes this property unique
Sturgeon lake is big...but shallow. It warms up into the '80s in the summer, and in the winter it freezes quickly and has many winter activities to offer. Pleasant point is a fantastic little lakeside community. It's a mix of full-time residents, and waterfront cottagers. Lots of waves, and 'hello's' from folks as they walk the neighborhood and the waterfront.
