This property was a wonderful refuge for us as we explored Nelson! Rob was prompt to respond, and provided all the essentials for a lovely stay. Would definitely return if back in this area!
We had an amazing time staying at Rob’s place! We stayed for our honeymoon and the property blew us away. Rob had a ton of great suggestions for things to see and places to go in the area. We loved it!
Rob was an amazing host. Greeted me on arrival and gave me an orientation. The unit is spacious with an amazing view of Kootenay Lake. There is a private patio which offers a great vantage point. The property includes a stream snd waterfall, and had a visiting deer. The property is easy driving distance to the access road to Kokanee Lake, which is a must do. I highly recommend this propertg.
The property is beautiful. Rob was very accommodating. Recommend sitting on the platform near the small water fall area. So relaxing. At night if the sky is clear take a moment to stare at the stars. During our last night we saw the Milky Way and multiple shooting stars.
My boyfriend, border collie and I stayed at Robs and we were taken back by the gorgeous mountain and lake view, great outdoor fire pit, beautiful guest suite and all the land/trails to explore.
Rob was so genuine, kind and was always available for communication (if needed) for places to see/visit to ensure you have the best stay.
The extra touches in the suite made us feel so welcomed.
With ferry it is around 40min if you are going into Nelson, Ainsworth Hot Springs, Old Growth Trail or Fletcher falls.
If you like to be out of the hectic city life, "Back to Base" is the perfect escape to relax, reset and feel so at peace.
We will forsure be visiting again! So impressed and our dog absolutely loved it and loved Rob.
This place was spectacular! I didn’t read the info well enough and was shocked to find no stove and a little fridge but after that shock passed (my fault), I was in love with the place. It is really like a luxury Swedish spa or resort. Everything is top of the line and so zen. All the wood is so relaxing. We had long hot showers in the stunning shower, walked all the trails and loved the one called Old Growth Trail❤️ I wish we had gone to the end of the point and hiked the trail there as it looked so neat but we didn’t find it until the end. The cafe was closed so we couldn’t get the famous cinnamon buns but… next time. We travelled to Ainsworth and Kaslo one day and spent another day in Nelson. We loved the 5 minute ferry and didn’t find it even slowed us down as it was always there when we got there or just arriving. Our fave trails in the area were cemetery to cedar trail near Ainsworth and hiking in the Kokanee Provincial Park near Nelson (Especially the canyon trails). Ainsworth hotsprings were so nice! Kaslo sourdough pasta -yum! Wayside Pub excellent! We loved having a fire in Rob’s fire pit, and chatting with him when he was around (rarely) was a highlight as he a beautiful soul. Lunch in the sunshine on our little deck “bench” table out the patio doors and over looking the lake was awesome! Also loved waking each morning to the view of the lake! So much to explore on Procter so dig deep and don’t miss the small things ;) Having our dog with us made the trip perfect❤️
The host of this space has cultivated a warm, welcoming, scenic and soulful guest experience. Rustic, exposed beams, expansive property, and picturesque vistas—these come into view as we flip through photos on our phone, excited to visit once again.
If we had to “grade our stay” it may look like this:
1.) Rob, owner and host, was welcoming, courteous, thoughtful, knowledgeable about the region, very accommodating, and attentive.
2.) The accommodations, property, and surrounding area all host a large variety of wonderful experiences. Waking up in the morning to the sun gently rising over the upper peaks of the surrounding mountains, for example, is just one of the many blissful experiences that are daily occurrences here.
3.) The village of Proctor is situated a comfortable driving distance from Nelson, a city that is easy to love. The ferry service is very efficient, and around every turn along the road it seems there’s a new view. Other destinations like Fletcher Falls and Kaslo are also easily accessible from this property. Lastly, Proctor is just far enough away to provide a feeling of remoteness, which is really helpful for relaxing and welcoming the present moment.
4.) Proctor has a great cafe. For us, the cinnamon buns paired wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee on a refreshingly rainy day—nothing to do but look at the view.
This holiday is one we will be reliving for years to come. From the gracious and kind host, to the region itself, this was an excellent experience, and we highly recommend.
My husband, dog, and I had an awesome stay. We loved looking out on the lake and stargazing at night Rob is a super host and was very accommodating to help us meet the needs of our older and anxious dog. We were so pleased that there were trails just off the property to walk the dog. The location is so tranquil you really do feel like you are getting away from it all! The property is just as lovely on the inside as it is on the outside.
Rob's place is excellent! The views are outstanding, well-equipped main kitchen, fireplaces galore (both indoor and outdoor). The property grounds are also excellent for hiking and shoeshowing, backing onto crown land.
Rob was also an incredible hospitable host. I felt right at home.
Thanks!
