Perfect location, great outdoor space, beautiful beach. Overall great location (bigger than the pictures look). The beach is the best part.

Thank you for the wonderful review! We're so glad you loved the location and outdoor space, and that the beach lived up to expectations (and then some, since the place felt even bigger than the pictures show). It's great to hear you had such a great stay.

This is a lovely Maine cabin with beautiful views of the cove and great access to the waterfront (we enjoyed lots of paddleboarding). It is located down a gravel road so it offers plenty of peace and quiet -ideal for reading on the deck -- yet is easily accessible to the center of Stonington to enjoy the restaurants, shops, and other attractions there. Highly recommend!

Thank you for the wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the views of the cove, the paddleboarding, and the peace and quiet of the deck, while still being close enough to enjoy everything Stonington has to offer. It means a lot that you'd highly recommend the cabin to others.

Think camping when you stay

We enjoyed the rustic, charming, and quite. The single bath was a challenge but we made due. Our family enjoyed Acadia, Stonington, and Fort Knox. We like being within driving distance of attractions but not in the hustle and bustle.

Peaceful Cabin on the Lake

Super cute cabin RIGHT on the lake. Wish it would have been warmer during our stay. The cabin is very secluded and quiet with a fire pit outside for relaxing. Be sure to have the directions ready from the property manager as your GPS won't pick the address up.

Relaxing week

This is a fairly rustic cottage in a beautiful setting, with easy water access, nice local hikes and quaint towns nearby. The house had everything we needed for 5 adults. Know that it isn’t fancy—it’s a typical Maine cabin in the woods. The owner was very accommodating. If you want to spend a week relaxing, swimming, boating, reading, taking walks, playing games, making a campfire this is the place for you

6/10 Okay

Stinky & delapitated

There are no kayaks at the property for use. The private cove is not private and is really mud flats. There is a terrible mold smell throughout the cabin and the deck and interior floors are soft. The place is old and very dirty inside. Stonington is beautiful and this is the only cabin I could find at the time but we won’t be coming back

Not worth the money!

I’ve been a VRBO user for years and on the whole have had great experiences. I’m also not one to leave reviews everywhere I go but do often communicate with the home owners and often go back to properties we enjoy annually. That said- this property was one of the worst I’ve ever stayed in. Old houses are often quaint— this was just old and neglected with very little thought given to the guests’ experience. It was old, dirty and run down with an almost unusable bathroom, windows falling off hinges and rotted out doors. If we hadn’t driven 8 hours to get there- we would have turned right back.

Hi Jihye, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: -Yes, our property is older. It's a quaint cottage in the woods, and we don't advertise it as anything else. -Our windows work and the doors are not rotten. -We encourage guests to reach out to our Guest Contact for any questions or concerns during their stay so that we can address them immediately. Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!

Looks Good online, but...

We feel like we were very much fooled by the pictures online. If we were lucky enough to make it down the dirt road to the cabin without a flat tire (from the deep potholes), it was a miracle! The condition of the property especially on the outside is entirely unsafe for children or for the elderly who are unsure of footing. The deck is in serious disrepair. The rails are not to code, the height of the rail is short and the deck railing doesn't have spindles. A child could easily fall through or over. It is a steep drop. The grounds that the Cabin is on are unsafe and an eyesore. A child could get seriously injured wandering the property with all of the old junk/ stuff just laying in the yard area. The inside was also a challenge. The kitchen floor has soft spots that you feel like you might fall through, covered over with vinyl. The very small bathroom can only fit one person, you can't put your child in the tub and then have room to bathe them. The high ledge of the bathtub would be difficult for the elderly to lift their legs to get into the tub. There weren't screens for the 2 sliders, so when the sun came in, we couldn't open the sliders to get some air. It was incredibly hot. We found a fan in a closet and set it up, but when we plugged it in, it sparked and blew up the motor. If we had left the fan, there would have been a fire. This property is not the safe or relaxing place that you want/expect to stay on vacation!!

From the owner: "The road is a typical dirt road in Maine maintained by the road association, and yes, it's the rocky coast of Maine. The bathroom is small with plans to Expand but fully functional; the deck has been repaired before your visit and is constantly worked on as the salt water is tough on things, even wood. We replaced the kitchen floor this last past year. The fan was nearly new, and I noticed the cord was cut off; maybe the reason for your complaint? I am looking into this. Thank you for your review."

Just a note to future users, the address on the VRBO site is incorrect. It should say 67 Cat Cove Rd. Stonington, ME. It is an ideal location, so serene and tranquil.

Nice cottage on quiet cove

Excellent location to explore Deer Isle, close to Stonington and nature preserves. The cottage is steps from two coves, ideal for crabbing and paddling around Cat Cove and towards Inner Harbor. Our boys spent hours playing on the water. The deck gave us a view of the kids and was a wonderful place to enjoy a good book and beautiful view. The book collection is fantastic, excellent mix of fiction and history, a total plus for book lovers like us. We enjoyed the fire pit and amazing night skies. The cottage was comfortable and roomy for our family of 4. Three bedrooms and comfortable beds for everyone. Nice living room and big eat in kitchen very well equipped. The bathroom is very small, and the shower was tricky because the shower curtain support would not stay on the ceiling. We suggest a deep dusting and removal of personal items - there are many decorations and paper goods that simply get dusty and damp in this weather, and items that are better removed (or locked within the property) before renting. We would consider this property again, we loved the area!

Thank you for your rating. During this stay, the area experienced a significant storm that resulted in a power outage lasting approximately two days. We remained in communication with the guests throughout the outage and made every effort to assist and help make their stay as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. We understand that unexpected weather conditions can affect a stay, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide this additional context for future guests.
