Great stay, property as described
This property is part of the Blackstone Mountain Lodge so it was typical of all the units there. It was well stocked, clean and spacious. There was no info about wifi or check-out instructions in the unit, so had to ask the host. The host’s associate dropped off a few extra things like towels, toilet paper and sheets so that was nice. There is underground parking with a wash bay which was nice but the parking spaces are a little tight. We didn’t have any complaints with the property and our stay.
I did experience a few odd things when booking the place and interactions with the host, which had me wondering if this was a legitimate property. The host’s response time is not timely as I am used to from other VRBO property owners.
1) When I first requested to book the place it took them almost exactly 24 hours to decline my initial date request. When asked about alternative dates I was then pre-approved to book.
2) The property description is right from the Blackstone Mountain Lodges description.
3) There are no reviews posted.
4) Three days prior to check-in I received the automatic VRBO message with check-in information but everything was blank.
5) I messaged the hosts 3 times (~1 day apart) inquiring about check-in info and how to access the property and did not a get response. I had to contact VRBO customer service twice so they could contact the host. The day off arrival the host finally sent check-in and detailed access instructions. This is odd because typically the hosts sends that information a week in advance. So this had me concerned about being scammed.
6) When we checked into the property the host was more responsive to inquiries.
Overall it was a nice stay and every view in Canmore is mountain view so can’t go wrong there! Host’s communication needs improvement.
