This is a great place to stay!!!! We book this place every year so we can attend our family reunion. It has plenty of room, a great kitchen, enough bedrooms for those of us out of towner, and a wonderful porch to sit and enjoy nature. I highly recommend this place! It has given our families so many wonderful memories and the opportunity for us to stay together.

Big house.

Brain was easy to work with but we were disappointed in the lighting, beds and showers. Either the shower was so small you couldn’t shave your legs or the head/handle of the shower was lose. House is nice but needs work. Broken window and downstairs shower need to be fixed.

Hi Elizabeth, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following: - We are delighted that you chose to stay with us. It was truly our pleasure to accommodate the special needs of your group. We strive to give every guest a 5-star experience! While unfortunately, it is too late for us to address these issues, we thank you for providing feedback and we will be sure to address this for future guests.- The house is listed as having 6 full bathrooms and one-half bathroom. The downstairs bathroom is intended to only be used as a half bath. Generally, the 6 other bathrooms in the house are able to accommodate our guests. 4 of those bathrooms contain full-size tub/shower units, while the other 2 have shower units with separate clawfoot tubs. - Unfortunately, a prior guest broke one of the windows to the house (thankfully it was just the outer pane). The window company had to order the specific replacement; however, they were not able to replace it prior to your stay. We are on their docket and it should be replaced very soon.- The entire ambiance of the lodge was created to provide a more intimate, rustic experience. Overwhelmingly, guests appreciate its appeal. While the house has many of the modern amenities that you would expect, its décor and style are not what people would consider modern; it is charming, rustic, and set in the beautiful North Carolina mountains on the bank of the Tuckasegee River.We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

River Lodge

What place to kick back and enjoy the sound of the river wisking by and the crackiling of the great fireplace. We had a group of nine (over 60 in age each) that has gone over 30+ yrs for once a year long weekend trips to Blue Ridge Smokies. This stop was a great place for out group. House was plenty big enough. The owner and property helpers we quick to fix a couple of issues when we arrived. But overall, the old house did us well once we got used to the little qwerks all houses seem to have. Overall a good place for a large group to hang out for a few days. Thanks again to Brian, Russ and Missy for all the help when needed.

Nice Place for Group Gathering for the Price - Some Updates Would Make This Place Really Sparkle

The property is nice and properly priced for what it offers. It has a bathroom for each bedroom as I believe it was originally intended to be a bed and breakfast. The house is nice and clean. Our bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen is large as is the great room. The house has a lot of character. The large fireplace was very nice on cool nights. With that said, the house does need some improvements. The lighting is out of date. While the kitchen is large, the cooking pots, pans, and cooking utensils are in need of an upgrade. If you are planning on cooking a lot of food - for example Thanksgiving - be prepared to bring your own cooking pots/pans. There are other things that needed improvements - many of the exterior doors are hard to close, the outside deck is rotting, windows and window treatments are dated. It has a cabin feel, but also combined with Victorian treatments which makes it a little bit of a hodgepodge. It would be better if there was a TV in the great room instead of chess table - again the chess table instead of a TV works for a bed and breakfast, but not for a VRBO. Maybe the property owner is in the process of upgrading, and he seems to have it priced properly right now considering these needed updates. The property owner is very responsive and seems interested in making sure the property is enjoyable for all. It is very nice having the Tuck river on the property and if you like to fish or just enjoy the river, this is a nice plus.

Ideal for a Large Group

We selected this location for being close to Panthertown Valley hiking trails. Only 35 minutes to the trailhead. With each room having a private bathroom, this home is ideal for a large group. It allows for plenty of privacy. 5 bedrooms are upstairs, 1 bedroom is downstairs. The 7th bedroom is separate. It’s attached to the house but has its own entrance. It worked perfectly for us. The kitchen is HUGE and fully equipped. We’re all big coffee drinkers so we appreciated the keurig in addition to the standard coffee maker. The breakfast area was gorgeous in the morning; watching the sunrise while sipping coffee. The living room had plenty of seating. The outdoor area is the best we’ve had. Large porch areas to hang out, plenty of grassy areas to play. We loved the visits from the neighborhood pups Cruiser and Harley. Last but not least, Brian & Sakshi are amazing hosts. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us.

Perfect place for family gatherings!

This property is absolutely perfect for family gatherings! Everyone had their own space, but also had great communal spaces as well. Perfect for porch sitting, cookouts and family game nights! We want to make this an annual visit. The view is off the charts! Highly recommend!! The hosts are so kind and very accessible.

An amazing place to stay!!

We stayed at the River Lodge to be close to our family reunion. It was an amazing place to stay! We enjoyed the river as we spent several hours tubing. We enjoyed the decks and porches, sitting outside at night catching up. Working with Brian and his wife was a pleasure.
