About this property

Cozy lakeside cabin 30 minutes from Waterton National Park

Our bungalow style cabin has 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a bathroom with a double shower, a large open concept kitchen/living room and a natural gas fireplace.

It is located on a 13 acre pond beside The Great Canadian Barn Dance, which is 1 hour from Lethbridge and 30 minutes from Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, and Waterton Lake National Park.

Non motorized water sports are allowed on the lake, so you can bring a canoe, kayak, paddle board, etc. It is also great for skating/pond hockey in the winter. Swimming is not recommended. 5 minutes down the road is Cochrane Lake which is ideal for fishing. 10 minutes down the road is Waterton Reservoir which has a beach for swimming. There are plenty of hiking trails within a 30 minute drive.

The lake is shared with The Great Canadian Barn Dance which at one point hosted music camps, water sports camps, and other events throughout the summer. (Currently closed since Covid - unsure if it will reopen)

This property is pet friendly EXCEPT for cats as our family is allergic.

This was our second stay. Host is super responsive and the location is just perfect! Still curious as to why 2 shower heads (on opposite sides) in the shower, but my kid had fun with it lol... looking forward to next year!

Cute cabin in quaint area. Clean and kitchen had all we needed. Cell service wasn’t great, but I was happy to have kids get off their devices and enjoy nature. We would come back.

Clean interior, close to Waterton Lake National Park!

The cabin was clean and tidy! I would love if the backyard was up-kept to have a fire in the backyard. You can use the community fire pit, but I really enjoy the the use of pits in my backyard. It’s a great place to sleep close to several beaches and Waterton Lake National Park.

We had a nice quiet stay. The cabin was clean and comfortable. The area doesn’t have a lot to do but Waterton park is close by. On a down note the internet doesn’t work well most of the day, and the back yard is not well taken care of. It was difficult for my dog to go out and use it. There are thistles everywhere.

Peaceful

We thought the cabin was a perfect size and fully equipped minus a kettle. Didn’t quite understand why the lot was not mowed and the fire pit wasn’t useable. It was extremely quiet which was exactly what we needed but being so close to others would make it noisy in the summer months. We’d love to visit again, probably around the same time.

Disappointing

This was an anniversary getaway for a few days. The deck had cobwebs and bird droppings on it, the counter, table and stove had to be wiped down, the bathroom garbage had not been changed, dirty towels by the washer/dryer, there were previous guest's hair on the clean facecloths, the internet was terrible when trying to watch a movie at the end of the day and there was no hair dryer. Not the type of experience we are used to.

Rural escape outside Waterton

This cabin was a peaceful retreat. It was a bit far from Waterton, but the excursion into the countryside was a welcome adventure. The cabin itself was still in its dusting off stage from the winter. Despite that, it was clean and quiet and provided everything we needed for our stay. The lake was beautiful but not one we would swim in. The hosts left clear instructions in a binder, and thus we felt confident to take care of the home and enjoy our vacation. The communication via the VRBO app prior and post our stay was crickets. So, we were a bit unsure of how the stay was going to go. Nonetheless, everything worked out well and if we are in the area again, we would consider this for another stay.

Great cabin near Waterton Lakes NP

We had a great time at this charming cabin! Would recommend highly to anyone. The cabin itself is very nice and well equipped, and the views of the rockies are beautiful. It is very close to Waterton Lakes National Park and also to Glacier NP in Montana. Great place to stay at to visit the parks!

Great cabin

The cabin was perfect for exploring waterton lakes (30 mins) and glacier (1.25 hours to many glacier) national parks. It was well-stocked, beds were comfy, and it’s right on the pond. We enjoyed sitting on the deck for dinner, drinks, and games in the evenings.
