Spend your summer in a place that's fit for the history books... and featured in a few! Centrally located 10 minutes from downtown Huntsville, ON, this classic Muskoka cottage on the south side of Fairy Lake was built in the early 1930's and sleeps up to 10 people in 6 bedrooms.
It's an ideal family cottage situated at the end of a private lane on 3.25 acres with a dock and shallow waterfront. Enjoy many modern conveniences while basking in the rustic charm of this near-century old property!
Upon entering through an original antique front door, you’ll find an open concept living and dining room that spans the entire width of the cottage. The living room includes a sofa, individual chairs, a wood-burning stove, a variety of games, and a television (allowing for streaming services over Wi-Fi). A long wooden dining room table can accommodate up to 12 people for meals, and the screened-in porch can be accessed both from a “dutch door” in the dining room as well as the front porch entryway. On the other side of the dining room is a door to the expansive kitchen, which then leads out to the back deck and BBQ area. One of the six bedrooms (with a queen bed) is located on the main floor off the living room to the left of the staircase.
On the second floor, there are five bedrooms (from right to left: 1 double bed, 1 double bed, 1 single bed, 1 single bed, 1 double bed) as well as the bathroom. The bathroom features a new toilet, new vanity and sink, tub with shower, and cupboards for storage.
The property can accommodate parking for up to 4 vehicles in between the trees in the non-grassy area. Across from the parking and closer to the lake, you’ll find a stone firepit on the large lawn to enjoy summer evenings. Please abide by local fire rules and regulations during your stay as most times, daytime burning is prohibited. To the left of the cottage when looking out at the lake is a plateau where outdoor lawn games can be played. Above the plateau and behind the back deck with BBQ is a clothes line for drying any hand washing (there are also two main laundromats in town), and up the path from the clothes line is an outhouse to supplement the indoor bathroom.
Located at the end of a quiet bay, the water is quite shallow around our private dock, about knee-to-waist high on an average adult during the summer season. The lake bottom is mostly sandy. Please note, access to the pictured boathouse is not included in the rental, however, Muskoka chairs as well as storage bins with water toys and life jackets are provided for use.
Fairy Lake is one of four major lakes in the Huntsville area. It is connected to Lakes Vernon and Peninsula via canal systems, and Mary Lake through a canal system with locks. Renters may dock up to one motorized watercraft at the dock during their rental period at their discretion. Boat launches are available on Brunel Road or at the marina across the lake on Highway 60.
Guests are required to bring their own bedding, linens, and towels – these items are not provided. Between renters, the cottage is thoroughly cleaned and all hand/dish towels are washed. The cottage driveway is monitored 24/7 for the protection of our property and guests.
