Mount Barker Stay
Good location. The host was very pleasant, helpful and provided information on local wineries and distillery. Large house area and big kitchen. The beds were very comfortable. I enjoyed having my own room rather than sharing. Bathroom appeared newly constructed and could have been in a 5 star hotel. Outside was very barren as there had not been rain for some months and in the yard was very much of a working property.

Fantastic stay in the countryside
Great place to stay about 15 mins north of Mount Barker. Clean, cute accommodation - perfect for our one night stay exploring the local wineries. Friendly dog and cat onsite.

Escape to the country
Pete's retreat allows you to experience silence at night. It was wonderful to wake to the sounds of the cows and sheep. The property was thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and clean. It may look like a shed from the outside but as you cross the threshold of a beautifully hand crafted door by Pete you are transported into another world.

Hidden gem
Peter was friendly. Great place to relax away from town. Beautiful spot. Take your shoes off when entering. Polished floorboards.

Relaxing spot
Nice spot for an overnight. Very quiet and relaxing. Lost electricity overnight due to severe storm but Peter managed to give us warm showers by running a generator.

About the host

Host profile image
We are semi retired, building a property that is as self sufficient as as we can.

Why they chose this property

Rural retreat that is quiet except for the frogs and the birds. Low interfering light for looking at the stars when there is no cloud.
No sirens going off, just the occasional vehicle and aircraft.
Sheep next door.

What makes this property unique

Sit outside on the deck and have a wine watching the sun go down.
