I’ve stayed in several VRBOs and this was by far the cleanest! The house overall is really good sized, but some areas/rooms were a bit cramped just given the age of the house and/or furniture. This house really felt like someone’s home and not just a rental, and we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely book again if needed.

Very clean. Great location for getting around, easy drives to most areas of Cape Cod though we did not go further than Chatham to the east and barnstable to the west. Convenient to essential shopping such as grocery and gas stations.

Great location for our golf weekend!

Our group of life-long friends spent a long weekend on the Cape in this perfectly located house. Everything you could wish for in a rental, including plenty of beds, 3 full bathrooms and a nice deck with a modern grill. Owner is very nice and communicates all the details. We’ve rented this same house for three years now, look forward to booking again next spring!

Great Stay

The property is located in a great spot and is every bit as nice as the pictures indicate. We had easy access to both ocean and bay beaches and the house was a lovely place to have a family gettogether with our 6 adults and 1 child. Alison was great to work with and answered any and all questions that we had. I would stay here again!

House is conveniently located and was clean and comfortable. Central Location Base Camp

We're repeat customers for this property. We've been here for numerous vacation weeks in the summer. The house is spotless, plenty of bedrooms and furnishings. This year we covered ground from Falmouth to Provincetown. We went to the beach, rail trail, bowling, hiking, touring a lighthouse and mansion. Not to mention food and ice cream!

Cape cod trip

We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect and had everything we needed . My husband and I rented it for the week for my daughter and her family visiting from clinton Missouri and my cousin and his girlfriend from Oneida NY and us from Munnsville NY. The guys went on an overnight fishing trip and the girls went on a whale watch. The location of the house was close to both places and so easy to get to. Allison the owner was so nice talking to her was like talking to a longtime family friend 😊

Great time at the beach with family

This house is great. There were 10 of us, 8 adults and 3 year old and a 4 month old. We had a great time and will definitely be booking for another week next year. The house is clean, has lots of room and had everything we needed. My 3 year old loved the doll house in the basement. We loved all the space. There were chairs for the beach and plenty of toys to take to the beach. There were plenty of beaches with in a 10-15 minute drive. We liked Mayflower and Chapin beaches the best. Very nice place to stay, very well located at the Cape!

Excellent communication, beautiful sunroom

Alison was eminently communicative and the house was beautiful. Especially the sunroom, which was the favorite hangout spot, all day and into the evening. The wheelchair ramp was functional and crucial for one of our guests. The doorways are small, so you’ll want to be sure that any wheelchair user is able to get out of the wheelchair to get into the bedroom and bathroom. Our guest who was using a wheelchair enjoyed the pullout couch for sleeping.

Hot start, but good time.

The house was on a main road and looked smaller than the photos. When we entered a swelteringly hot and humid house in the afternoon we quickly began to wilt. We measured over 90 degrees both upstairs and down. The house had been unoccupied for 2 weeks with the AC off and no ventilation. 5 small window air conditioners took nearly 48 hours just to get the house temperature down to 76. Worse, the heat and humidity caused mold to grow on the toilet seat and shower walls in the 1st floor bath. My wife cleaned the toilet seat herself before even unpacking (long day of driving), then contacted the owner via text. There were other cleanliness issues including debris and colored liquid in a refrigerator bin. The front door was stuck so badly it took me 5 minutes to get it open the first day, even longer several days later. This needs immediate attention. There is a bolt lock at the very bottom of the door, which no one would think to look for in an emergency. The owner did respond to our concerns the same day we arrived. She was aghast we found the house with such problems. She arranged for a cleaning person the next day and is refunding 1 day’s rent and the cleaning fee. On the plus side, the family room, kitchen, and formal living room were pretty large and easily accommodated 7 of us at the peak. Beds were comfortable, and the roomy kitchen allowed several cooks to work at the same time. We enjoy this part of the Cape and overall had a good time.

Location was excellent. House was clean but there was a slight problem with ants. We did find ant spray & used that. We also bought ant traps & put them in the kitchen & bathrooms. That did clear up the problem. Also, I have never stayed at a VRBO where you actually had to put sheets on the beds yourself. The selection of sheets were well used. Pillows were not the best so bring your own pillows from home. Other than that, the beds were comfortable..the home was inviting & well stocked. We had a great time and there were lots of things to do on the Cape & in the immediate area. Great seafood, excellent restaurants & right after Labor day the traffic is tolerable. Our host was exceptional…friendly, helpful & very easy to deal with. Thank you, Alison Clark for having us!

About the host

Hosted by Alison Clark

Host profile image
Alison is a recently retired teacher while John is retired from Ciba-Geigy and from instructing the Dale Carnegie Course. They make their primary home in New Jersey, close to 15 grandchildren. Alison summered on Cape Cod from the mid-1950's when her Grandparents retired to the Cape from the Berkshires to escape mountain snows. The house is Alison and John's second home when others are not there to enjoy it and they keep it immaculate and updated. Their caretaker and grounds keeper lives right down the street and is always available when needed.

Why they chose this property

The original property was a single lot and the original small cape cod home was built by a local contractor for my grandparents when they retired. The original home passed down to the next generation, and my father decided to expand and update the home to fulfill the dreams so often spoken of by the women of the family. Today it is a lovely airy home, fully updated, environmentally sound, new furnace, new windows, and a second piece of property to keep and expand the feeling of the original wooded property.

What makes this property unique

The minute you walk in the door, you feel the tensions of life fall away. The large windowed family room just welcomes you in, and soon you find it is the center of your time in the house. It leads you to the deck where we love to share our meals outdoors, or sit quietly to read a great book. The kitchen is wonderfully spacious for cooking. Step out the door and you are only minutes from every possible Cape Cod activity or restaurant due to the home's central location. Or just stay on the property and enjoy...there is lots available to do right there! Badminton, soccer, foosball, air hockey, board games. It truly is a Home Away From Home...... and you have the time to enjoy it!
