Hi, This is a great place for cozy cabin with a single Dad and daughter or those who don't mind a small cabin. The view, lake and amenities more than make up for it. It is priced right as well. Great communication as well.

Carl, thank you for the great review. We love the fact that you have come back several times with your daughter to create precious memories!
The place was nice and quiet with plenty of lake activities. The host was very accommodating and quick to communicate. We will definitely want to visit again.
Overall our stay was wonderful. The cabin was clean, cozy and quiet. The lake was beautiful and peaceful. Next time we stay, we hope to come for longer than 2 nights! Our host stayed in contact during our stay and sent check out instructions reminders which was appreciated. And although we didn’t have any issues during our time there I am confident that he would have addressed them quickly.

Perfect Getaway
Our second visit of what we call the perfect place to unplug and enjoy time with our fur babies. Always clean, beautiful view and peaceful. The host is always kind and responsive.
Our stay was perfect. Cabin was cozy and clean. The owner responded quickly and had everything set up for our needs. If you want a relaxing get away with beautiful views this is the place. We will be returning.
We stayed in late June. It was exactly what we were looking for. The cabin follows a tiny home concept and the property is much larger in terms of acreage than we imagined. Hardly a soul on the lake. Great get-away. Town is close enough to get anything you need.

A great cabin. Very clean and private. Comes with everything you need, just bring food and your family. Brookshires is only 3 min away. Dwight is a great host as he makes sure you know everything you need to know.
Quaint and cozy with a beautiful view, good fishing and completely what we were looking for in a weekend getaway to unplug. Met Dwight the first day and was pleased with how clean the property was. The dogs loved the outside and my wife and I found a place we will want to go again and again.
Great little cabin right on the lake with a deck on the water. All the amenities a cabin should have. We caught 2 catfish off the deck in the lake! And our dogs absolutely loved it and it was nice that we could bring them along bc not many places let you. Owner is very nice as well. We will be back!

Perfect little Place
We didn’t get to really enjoy all there was to do at this little house! We came for a basketball tournament in Mt Pleasant and were very busy. It’s so quiet and peaceful it was a perfect place to come home to. I wish we had more free time or weren’t so tired when we got back because fishing and paddle boarding would be so fun! Everything was clean and wonderful! The house manager was very kind and easy to work with. Would definitely stay again!!!
The place is like a movie set, beautiful lake surrounded by trees with a heavenly feeling close to the nature. The place is super cute with everything you need to eat, rest and have fun. Even though we didn't use any water sports equipment like paddleboat, canoe etc, it was there for fun. The place is very peaceful with natural sounds of trees, water and birds. CANT WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN IN FEW MONTHS.

Perfect fun and relaxing spot
Bear cabin was great. From the very clean and beautiful cabin to the amazing view. My son loved the lofts and my dog had a huge fenced in property to run and do dog things. Fishing off the huge dock not 50 yards from the cabin to having access to all the boating options and outdoor games that came with our stay. The owner was fantastic and had a great time talking with him and even getting a nice little tour of the property. We will definitely be back. The pictures do not do justice to this beautiful spot.
Our family just spent our first vacation here and I have to say it was the most amazing experience. The kids swam, boated, and fished all day! We all watched the sun rise and set above the water which was nice. Everything was nice and clean inside the cabin and we had zero issues with internet, not that we used it that much. I especially adored the bear plates and mugs. We will be making this a yearly family trip. Thank you for sharing your space with our family!!!!
We loved the Bear cabin! Everything was very clean and well maintained. We have stayed in tiny homes before where the lofts do not get very good air and get hot, but the air at this cabin is well circulated and stays nice and cool in the loft.
The outdoor space is very enjoyable as well. The lake was a lot of fun especially with all of the lake stuff provided. My wife and dog especially liked the paddle boards.
We love staying in cabins for short getaway trips and this was one of our favorites so far.
Thank you Dwight for creating such a beautiful place and sharing it with us!

Shared from the owner: The AC is a big deal in Texas, so my wife wanted to make sure we had a good AC unit. Thanks for the great review. Hope we stay your favorite and that you come back again soon!
We had the best time! Booking was simple. Dwight was an awesome host! It is so peaceful and quiet. This place has everything you need to relax and have fun. We enjoyed all the water toys...kayaks, paddle boat, paddle boards and canoe. He also had all kinds of games...board games, cornhole, and washers. This place really has it all!! Just bring your family and food. It is also dog friendly with a 10x10 dog kennel with shade top on it. Our 2 German shepherds had a blast as well. Thanks Dwight for thinking of everything!! We will be back!!!

Hi Wendy, The owner wanted to share this with you: It was great to meet you all. We look forward to your return. Thanks so much for staying with us and for the great review!
But he just wants it to be available whenever we want to go back! It was one of the best weekends. The tiny home is simple enough to give you room for your stuff, yet has everything you need. The view of the lake from the front of the home is postcard worthy. We did venture to the little town of Winnsboro and had an enjoyable afternoon at the antique stores ( when did the things I grew up with become antiques?!), ate at the recommended Barrelhouse Bar and Grill and visited the weekly Farmers Market. As enjoyable as it was, we would have been content just kayaking on the lake or sitting outside listening to the birds and the wind blowing through the pines. While we did not meet the Johnson’s, Dwight called us to make sure we found all the lake toys and to see if we needed anything. Highly recommend this oasis!!

From the owners: "Thanks for coming and enjoying our Bear Cabin. We are glad you all had a great time! Our goal is to have a place where people can reconnect in a world that has become ever so busy. We hope you will come visit us again."
This was such a super little place for a quick getaway! The husband got in plenty of fishing, and the kids and dog absolutely wore themselves out playing in the water. The fact that kayaks, paddleboards, canoe, and peddle boat were all available for our use was seriously amazing! There were also plenty of PFDs available in all sizes, nicely hung on hangers so they dry easily with no stink! The other major benefit of this property is that it's dog-friendly with no weight limit (many properties advertise as dog friendly, but only for dogs 20 lbs or less). The cabin is super small but really well appointed, compared to some other places we have stayed. There is plenty of cutlery, decent pans and utensils, nice towels, etc. (mentioning only because it's kind of a rarity in vacation rentals for small families, we have found). The host was fabulous -- super friendly and accommodating, loaned my husband a fishing lure (because his weren't working - lol!) and gave tips on the best places for fishing. Only down sides were the tiny shower (don't drop the soap!) and the kitchen setup -- you can't operate the microwave and toaster oven at the same time, and if you cook anything in the toaster oven except toast, the unfortunate placement of the smoke detector will have you waving a dish towel at it to keep it from beeping from the heat. The grill was newer than most we have encountered in vacation rentals, so that was also appreciated. The kids loved the lofts and thought the ladders were super fun! The AC worked great (also a rarity). Overall, a really great experience. Absolutely recommend.

Hi Kerri, We're so glad that your whole family enjoyed the cabin! The owner also wanted to pass this along: Thanks for the positive review and sharing some areas that needed attention. The only thing I can do for the shower is to provide soap on a rope so that you can't drop it - ha! I was able to set up a different plug, so the microwave and the oven can be run at the same time. I also moved the smoke alarm so that it still provides safety but will not go off from the oven. Thanks for the input!
We had a wonderful time at Bear cabin. It was quiet and secluded, just what we were looking for. All the amenities were great, especially loved the paddle boards provided. The cove kept the waters calm despite the higher winds. The fire pit was another favorite spot! Would love to come back in the future!!
