It was 40c on the afternoon we arrived, and it was fantastic to find that the aircon was on and the house cool inside. It is a beautiful location, far away from everything, and had everything we needed to feel at home.

Beautful surroundings, a delightful, quiet and very comfortable cottage. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to book Chaffcutters Cottage again.
Chaffcutters cottage is a delightful place to stay. The cottage is comfortably furnished and spotless. The surrounding garden is enjoyable and the views over the countryside are beautiful.
A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. Just a short drive from Canowindra but into sheep and pasture country, away from people and noise. Janey and Peter are wonderful hosts and the cottage is well-equipped for a short (or longer) stay. Comfy bed, well-equipped kitchen, large TV with comfortable lounge seating. Beautiful surroundings and sunsets to savour. Highly recommended.
We loved our two night stay at Chaffcutters Cottage. Janey and Pete were great hosts. Excellent communication. The cottage was quaint and had everything we needed. Canowindra was just a short drive away. A very peaceful and relaxing stay. We will be back on our next road trip north.
A great place to stay: clean, well maintained and a very romantic atmosphere for us because it reminded us of a house we designed and lived in 20 years ago
The Chaff cutters cottage is a wonderful place to enjoy the country side around Canowindra with has all the comforts of home. It is a historic cottage surrounded by a beautiful garden and the peaceful countryside - a delightful place and we will be sure to return.
Set on a working farm, the gorgeous cottage was cosy and comfortable. The evening stroll up the hill to see amazing sunsets was a highlight. Great place to unwind, take time out and relax.
Beautiful property very homely, quiet, friendly cows, relaxing veranda to sit and view the magnificent sunsets. Very friendly kind owners. An overall very special comfortable home away from home.
The view from the veranda is welcoming. We stayed for seven days. If you want to venture further the towns of Forbes Cowra and Parkes are only a short drive away. We would recommend this accommodation.

This cottage was a stand-out!
*conveniently located close to Canowindra
*quiet and peaceful with a rural outlook from the verandah
*parking was right next to the front door
*comfortable, warm and well-equipped
* meticulously clean
We wished we could have stayed longer! Would love to return one day.
From the moment we turned in to a well maintained gravel driveway my blood pressure dropped as we drove up to Chaffcutter cottage, and when we met the owners who welcomed us warmly and who had prepared everything for our enjoyment, we knew we were in for a relaxing, care-free break.
The magnificent old Peppercorn tree shading the front garden and the lush green lawns surrounding the cottage provided the ideal areas for our Cavoodle to chase the ball - and the birds.
Then, sitting on the verandah overlooking nearby hills and distant mountains and watching the sunset was the kind of scenery that makes you feel like sharing a glass of wine or three.

Thank you so much Don & Carol. What delightful guests you were!!
Lovely setting, excellent kitchen, comfortable bed but freezing. Not suitable for a winter stay. There was a heater up high near the ceiling in the living area so only the ceiling got warm. I was left with large green wet logs to make a fire. There was no kindling, no smaller wood, no split wood, just fire starters which don't work on large wet logs! It was a nicely fitted out tin shed with no wall insulation which may have worked if there had been a space heater on the floor, proper equipment to make a fire and an electric blanket for the bed.
I booked this trip as a 3 day weekend get away and it did not disappoint. We arrived to the scent of roses all around the garden, freshly cut grass, a dog beds and toys as our warm welcome. We enjoyed the magnificent sunset while drinking Windowrie’s Sakura wine in the lovely private garden then we moved on to use the fire pit underneath a clear night of stars. A delightful surprise were the arrival of eight young heifers to the farm which were greeted by the farm’s seven adult cows - two of which were pregnant. We also enjoyed the trail walk through the paddock among the 50ish adorable sheep. We had all the luxuries with use of large tv with Netflix in the heavy rain and grilling steaks on the bbq. Perfect weekend and Janey was incredibly thoughtful in providing us road updates from the heavy rainfall and offering an extra night’s stay if we couldn’t get home to Sydney. Thank you Janey. We hope to visit again soon. xx
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The owners have created a great sense of welcome and comfort. The host was really great at responding to queries

About the host
Hosted by Janey Anderson
My family and I live on site about 300m down the lane from Chaffcutters. Our property is a small but busy and productive hay farm located on the Belubula River. We generally run a small number of livestock over the summer to keep the grass down on our hill and trade up to 1,000 lambs over winter on our farm and the neighbouring property. Chaffcutters Cottage keeps us busy most of the year!
Why they chose this property
The Canowindra district is a wonderful part of the state with a mild climate and stunning views. The community is very welcoming and there are a number of interesting places to easily explore within a day. Canowindra town has every service you need.
What makes this property unique
Chaffcutters is a little piece of rural farming history that has been restored to a practical and very comfortable one bedroom cottage with a fabulous outlook across lucerne paddocks. Pets are very welcome - in fact nearly all our guests visit with at least one dog of varying shape and size!
