What you cannot sense in the photos is "The Feel" that we created when building The Cabin that so many guests comment about.
With the vaulted ceilings and 4 large 4' skylights throughout - its actually more of a house than a Cabin- But.... You'll see soon enough :) We have about 25% of couples rebook while they are at The Cabin for the first time :)
Lake Simcoe is so close for paddle boarding, boating & swimming or ice fishing. The Black River is is just a few Kms away for canoeing all the way up to Lake Simcoe. J7ust bring your Canoe
Great restaurants, Apple Orchard/In house Bakery just 2kms away[You must try the Apple brownies- num num num- July-December only] Antique shops & Lots of great hiking trails just 5-10 minutes away.
Come for Honeymoons, Mini Moons, Birthdays, Anniversaries .
We 've even had 3 marriage proposals here (All said YES!! )
or simply enjoy a time away to re-connect with your loved one!
(No Blackflies in the summer unlike further up north - Phew!)
Sleep under 2 huge 4 ft Skylights watching the moon as it crosses directly overhead in the Loft Bedroom!
-Sit under stars Year round in the modern new Hot Tub(which is made here in Ontario) !
Play HorseShoes in the Summer & Go Snowshoeing(2 pairs provided)in the winter in the York Regional Forest (Brownhill tract) just 5kms away where there's 200kms of slightly rolling sandy trails for hiking with your dog, running or snow shoeing.
Escape the busy world we live in and feel safe and secure behind automatic gates yet The Cabin is less than 10 minutes from two towns (Keswick & Sutton) for your grocery or restaurant needs and beautiful Lake Simcoe is just 10 minutes away. Take a leisurley drive along Lake Dr and Hedge Road in the evenings.
Sibbalds Point Provincial park is just 15 minutes away and has a dog park on Lake Simcoe so your Pupperonis can go swimming and hiking trail are there too. Great boat launch too.
The Cabin in the Woods is a hybrid cabin...
- Solar powered lights/ceiling fan & cell phone chargers so please turn off lights in the rooms you're not in - in the winter months when we don't have as much sun. so... if a power outage you'll still have lights/heat- but they're rare here.
Propane heat/stove/On demand hot water, the plugs are regular electricty.
Although it looks like a wood stove - Your main source of heat is a thermostatically controlled Propane fireplace[Not wood] The real Firepit is outside!
If you book your time in the Cabin when the moon is full - you'll experience sleeping under two huge skylights as the moon passes over you (you may need Sun...er...moonglasses )and as an added bonus hear the Coyote’s howling off in the distance! Although you can hear them year round- you'll not see them.
You will see Squirrels (Please do not fed them), Lots of bunnies and so many birds and their songs.
We have a resident Barred owl who resides in a tree in the winter near The Cabin's driveway and not only will you hear her at night in- You may see her during the day around the cabin. Sometimes she fly's just above your car as you are driving in!
In the Spring - you'll often have the resident Red Cardinal tapping on your windows [See photo].
The Kitchen is stocked with many Pots /Pans/Dinnerware/Cutlery/ some Spices & some condiments
There is lots of Coffee or Tea. {Fully stocked Keurig Machine]- just bring the dairy of your choice.
Eat In the breakfast nook surrounded by glass on all 3 exterior walls.
So..... just bring the rest of your food and clothes & relax together making wonderful memories in 'The Cabin'!
Bring Slippers/Robe in the winter for the 10' quick mad dash back inside from the Hot tub.
-There’s a games loft (Scrabble, bridge, Bespoke puzzles ,Cards, Checkers) to reconnect with your loved one and is attached to the Loft bedroom by a bridge!
Yes, that's right- There's a Bridge inside the cabin- Its famous now!

-We have a covered wrap around deck and an outdoor BBQ to enjoy a sunny southern wooded, very private oasis right beside the hot tub.
Enjoy Smores on the outside firepit -But pick up some firewood (most gas stations and home hardware stores have bags for sale.)
Another 1,200' through the woods and down the winding driveway is our Main Residence (don't worry- you won't see us as you have your own driveway and everything is built to secure your privacy away from the main driveway unless you want to come and meet the horses.

Dogs are welcome ! Please brush your shedding dogs Before you come and vacuum before leaving and let me know what kind they are-All are welcome- We just like to know in case they get lost and venture down the drivewy to meet us.
Our dog Dodge is VERY freindly with both people and dogs and should your Pupperoni head to the main house or barn -Dodge will be ecstatic to have a freind over. He however -must respect your privacy as well and is Not Allowed at The Cabin.
Although we do have internet/wifi here in *The Cabin* Please forgive us-our country internet is not very fast.
If 100% wifi/Internet is imperative for you to work while at The 'Cabin -you can either add extra data during your stay or go to Lake Simcoe Arms' a fabulous pub(with private areas for zoom calls- and live music on the weekends. 10 minutes away in Jacksons Point.
NO Candles, incense or open flame of any kind.- After all The Cabin is All Wood both inside and out!
For Ambience --Please bring battery operated flickering candles instead- But you do have the propane fireplace for heat and ambiance all winter as well.

We've got some interesting suggestions to see and do and a few really nice restaurants in our guide book inside the cabin. ( but book them when you first get in so to assure your reservation)
We just put in a brand new 10' mattress with 3" of memory foam in late November /24
As a side note, there has been a country music video shot inside the cabin
https://youtube.be/tuAZryZxqs0
and an Urban Planet winter PJ's layout shot in the Cabin. So we're getting famous! :)
Please ask me if you want to meet the 6 Quarter horses that reside here. Foals too!
I'd love to introduce you if I am not at a horse show. BUT.... The admission fee is Carrots!:}
For a longer Horse emersionsession- Book a horsemanship session for $60. per hour -where you will learn to understand horses how they see and why they react the way they do, brush, lead, train ground manners- Sorry no riding.
If you watch Yellowstone - this are some of the events we compete in. So come meet in real life what you've been watching on TV :}

This was a charming cabin! A much-needed retreat from the city, combining a restful stay with exploring the area (we especially enjoyed the stone church, the orchard/bakery, and the antique store). Marie was a gracious and communicative host, and keeps the Cabin clean and well-stocked. Would definitely love to return!

Excellent stay

This cabin is so beautiful and a great place to stay. Has all the amenities you could need, check in was a breeze, and communicating with the host was also great. Very secluded, we didn’t see anyone except when we went for groceries/to the public beach. Hot tub was an amazing bonus! Would love to book again.

Quick fall escape

Cabin is exactly as shown on the pictures. Feels fairly isolated while still being conveniently close to town if you need it. Very well put together and cute. Hot tub is a nice touch and was lovely with the crisp fall air. It was grey and rainy a lot of our stay but thanks to the large area of covered porch we were still able to enjoy a lot of relaxing time outside.

Perfect couples retreat!

The cabin and surroundings are perfect for a quiet break away from every day life. The Cabin is situated in a lovely clearing and very private. The BBQ and hot tub were great and exactly what we needed. The bed situated under two massive skylights is stunning on a clear night. The Cabin was very clean and had everything you need. Marie was a great host, very responsive to any questions and was very happy to give us a tour of the rest of the property, which included meeting Dodge, her gorgeous dogs and all her horses. We are already planning our next trip!

Anniversary Trip

We had suck a great time. The cottage is as advertised. Very secluded. The pictures are not misleading. Very private wooded area. We had no issues with the property. Everything was working as expected. The owner made herself known to us in case we needed anything. We are looking forward to coming back in a different season to enjoy the cottage in the winter months as well.

Cozy cabin getaway

Overall the cabin is really nice as a place to disconnect. The skylights in the bedroom are a nice touch, however if you are a light sleeper they can be a little annoying in the mornings. If you are not used to well water like us, I would suggest bringing some as the water there has a pretty sulfurous taste. The property nice and good for dogs with lots of space.

About the host

Host profile image
We have been live on other platforms with This Log Cabin Since July of '21.and had 6 condo's downtown Toronto for 6 years as well.
We love hosting couples looking to get away from the usual day to day and your dog is most welcome.
Although we rarely meet you-(self check in) we are just a message away should you need anything. There are automatic gates ( You get your own remote) on the driveway so you can feel safe and secure when 'hiding out' from the world. We breed performance Quarter horses here so there are always babies to love on. You'll just have to bring the mums carrots :} Just let me know first- you can walk another 1,200' down through the woods to meet them if im not a a horse show.

Why they chose this property

We resurrected the original homestead on this property specifically for couples getaway or an escape from our busy lives.
We have many many repeat clients and a few who UBER up from Toronto as we are just an hour away.
We've hosted many Honeymooners, Birthdays, Anniversaries, even a marriage proposal weekend. (They all said YES!!:) But the majority of our guests come to soak up the country life and the Hot tub of course!
The pictures don't explain the FEEL of this cabin.
Guests have told us the pictures don't describe the feeling of being there. Read our guest book when you come. Such lovely words!

What makes this property unique

Why drive a few hours when you can save both time and fuel money?
80 kms from the CN Tower and almost all highway driving. We are 10 minutes from the top of the #404 highway. We are so easy to get to.
This Private and Secluded Log Cabin is behind a gated entrance so you can feel safe and secure. (You'll get the remote for the gate with the Cabins key)
The Cabin is just an hour from Downtown Toronto and just 10 minutes to the best beach within a 100 miles- 'De La Salle' on Lake Simcoe - Sandy and warm and 10 minute drive from The Cabin! Bring your boat in the summer or your sleds in the winter.
We provide snow shoes in the winter and horse shoes in the summer
