Secret Garden Guest House - 3BR/2BA - Fire pit!

Summary:
Welcome to the secret garden guest house in Old Louisville! Your own private getaway in the middle of the largest collection of Victorian homes in the country. This carriage house was built at the turn of the century as part of the Speed Mansion (the first house in Louisville to have a telephone) at the corner of Garvin Place and Ormsby. It has been fully renovated to accommodate guests looking for a little piece of the Derby City charm.

The Space:
Walk upstairs to an open floor kitchen/living room with lots of natural light, a nook dining area, and a large TV. Newly renovated kitchen includes dishwasher, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a range of cooking supplies. A bedroom with two twin beds shares a bathroom with a queen bedroom. Queen bedrooms all have white noise machines. Downstairs houses the master bedroom and private bathroom as well as a fully stocked laundry area. Guests also have access to a garage, if needed, where you can store a small, possibly mid-sized vehicle. A serene English-style private courtyard that is shared with both units is the perfect place to unwind. Solar walkway lighting illuminates the courtyard at night.

The garage can house a small to medium sized car - additional parking is available for free on the street, which is a block up from the alley.

Dirty Bedding

Overall the house is old and cute. It was in close proximity to the Kentucky Expo Center and had a variety of restaurants around. We were unsure about the safety of the neighborhood, but overall we didn’t few in danger at any time. The biggest problem was the cleanliness level of the unit. The twin bedroom had dirty sheets and comforters on them. We found a huge pee stain on one comforter. The kitchen faucet was so loose it was barely usable. The owners did have the cleaning ladies come and replace the bedding, but that was after a horrible night’s sleep as I was thinking about the dirty sheets I was laying on all night. The bathrooms are renovated nicely. The rooms are all very small, but it is an older home. Would not choose to stay here again.

Louisville Central Location

Perfect for our needs! Location within 10-15 minutes drive to museums and restaurants. We appreciated the comfortable beds, hot water in the designer showers and vintage iron tub. During our stay, the temperature outside fluctuated considerably—yet, the unit adapted easily. We were very comfortable. We brought our Subaru Crosstrek and it fit easily in the garage. would stay again!
