About the host
Hosted by Derek Hunsinger Hunsinger

Married for almost 40 years, we have four amazing children and 6 grand babies (and counting). And after running a small business in North Carolina for 14 years, we decided to do what we love. We love sailing. And, we enjoy entertaining and helping people discover these amazing islands and the people who live here.
Once our youngest graduated from high school in 2008, we "retired" to the Caribbean with one catamaran and a ton of energy. We worked as crew (Captain and Mate) for about 5 seasons. We both hold US Coast Guard licenses and are both experienced chefs. We are open water dive certified and CPR/AED/First Aid certified. And we now have approximately 25 boats that we own/co own and manage thru our small family business that our 2 daughters and 1 of our sons assist us with still to this day.
Presently, we are on land in St. Thomas, taking care of several boats. We see the yachts frequently, so we know their condition and their features. We also have amazing friends/crew who collaborate with us and strive to make amazing people from all over the world even happier than we did!!
We have lived this vacation and because of it, we have a love for the sea, the islands, its people and for creating memorable experiences for our guests. Even before you start your adventure, we will guide you along the way with lots of information and be there to answer any questions.
Exploring the Caribbean by boat has been a huge part of our family’s lifestyle since our kids were very young. As a family, we are passionate about delivering amazing customer service and helping guests to experience and love the islands the way we do. So ...we invite you .... to live this life .... even if only a week at a time .... give us a try.
