The location was beautiful!!! It was in a remote location several miles outside of Franklin. Not sure what the $175.00 property fee was for. Too busy touring so only used to sleep.

A perfect space

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful location over the long weekend and could not have been happier. We were hoping to stay in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina and this listing did not disappoint. The space itself has incredibly thoughtful touches and had all the kitchen supplies we needed. The cottage is really cozy after a hike and exploring the area. You can hear the sound of the creek all the time and it makes the entire space feel like a meditative space that's safe and secure. In the morning we ate in the lanai and saw hummingbirds - couldn't get anymore perfect!We highly recommend staying here and would be thrilled to have the opportunity to come back in the future.

It was the perfect girls trip getaway. We wanted to rest and relax and that’s just what we got. The creek that runs by the house was so nice to listen to in the evenings and in the mornings with coffee. It truly was just what we needed. The neighborhood dog was a bonus and a great protector as it laid on the deck watching over us. The cottage was close to things yet just far enough away. Love the quiet and can’t wait to return. 😊

Cardinal Cottage

Beautiful forest surroundings abound, 25 minute drive to town one way overall good location. Exceptional location for access to gem mines and fishing. Clean and comfortable furniture and beds. Lacked significant pantry essentials compared to other cabins in which we have stayed. No cooking sprays, oils, spices, absolutely nothing of that standard fare. There were no drinking glasses, plenty of dishware but oddly no glassware or even solo cups. Keep in mind in it a 45 minute curvy round trip and some expectations for supplies were simply very different from any other rental home we have ever had. Lastly there were no trash bags even though the departing instructions required us to dispose of the trash at a specific location many miles away or face extra charges. We could not understand this, not only was that very unusual but our checkout day was Sunday and the facility to accept trash was closed. There is no rural garbage pickup, and we understand that, but the cleaning and trash pickup should be addressed by the host with the bagged trashed properly placed where they can take it. It was a burden after checkout given the closure of the drop-off facility for us as we are trying to leave. Check out is 10 am so they time to clean and take the trash with them. With such a spectacular place, the lack of attention to detail distracts from the amazing experience one can have at Cardinal Cottage.

From the Owner: "Greetings Jeff sorry we were unable to satisfy you during your stay at our home at the Cardinal Cottage and earn a 5 star rating we sure wish you had contacted our host Loretta while you were there rather than be unhappy, she would have certainly taken care of those things that were left out of out normal business model and taken care of any other needs you might have had as she is has always done for others, the recycle facility is open Sundays i understand at 9 am, located on the main road as you exit the Cardinal Cottage, if you left prior to 9 maybe that's why you were unable to drop. We do appreciate the feedback and have corrected/ addressed the things you pointed out, and hope you will give us another shot in the future. Thanks for staying at the Cardinal Cottage. God Bless."

Cardinal Cottage Getaway

We really enjoyed staying at the Cardinal Cottage. The Cottage had everything that we needed. It was beautifully decorated and very clean!The deck with the sounds of the creek was very peaceful. We enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Franklin is close to lots of Falls. Such a beautiful ride thru the mountains to Gaitlinburg and Pigeon Forge where we saw Elk on the side of the road. We will be definitely staying here again. Truly Loved it!
