Disgusting property. We were moving from out of state and closing on a home and needed to rent a place on a month to month basis. All of our furniture was in storage, so VRBO seemed like a good option and has been a positive experience in the past. Immediately after paying, Vicki told me that electricity was not included and also that she wanted a separate lease contract signed. According to her ad, everything was included. She eventually agreed that we wouldn't need to sign the contract or pay electric, per her mistake on the listing. When we arrived to the property, we were overwhelmed with how awful the area was. I guess it was our fault for not researching it more, but we saw homeless people pushing shopping carts, and it was a super old and run down place. We had our 2 young children with us so we were nervous but kept an open mind. When we walked in, it was an overwhelming musty smell. I felt sick almost instantly upon walking in. The smell, the blue carpet, the random panes of glass, and glass and marble tables - it was overly cluttered and definitely not child/family friendly in any regard. We continued the tour and the master bedroom smelt of strong urine. I am not kidding. There was also no window in the master bedroom which made the room dark. Vicki had 2 lease agreements sitting on the table with pens and told us to sign. We again said we weren't signing anything additional to what we signed through VRBO because we weren't told prior to paying. We offered to take our money back and leave. She refused to refund us and said if we leave, no refund. I think she was very desperate for the money. There was thick dust everywhere, the toilet was dirty, there was someone else's thick hair balls behind the bathroom door. I was seriously disgusted with the level of filth. The a/c did not work well outside of the bedrooms, so it was very hot and had to constantly turn it up (this is probably why she insisted we pay for electric). The oven hadn't been cleaned, probably ever, and had old food and paper clips in the elements and the oven burnt everything we put in there so we stopped using the oven. There were many things missing from the "complete kitchen" that was promised, simple things such as a cheese grater and colander. In the last week of our stay, power started to go out randomly and we would have to reset the breaker constantly. When we left, she implied we stole towels. I am out of room, but there really isn't anything positive I can say.
