A secluded quiet garden suite. Absolute privacy with own private entry and parking. Full kitchen, bathroom and laundry with snug room that includes reading material and games. There's a spacious patio with seating both within a garden setting and on the patio itself. Gertrude's has easy easy access to the St. Albans township to visit one of the oldest pubs in Australia. The Great North Road is of huge historical importance in opening up the area starting down at Wisemans Ferry on the Settlers Road side. if you feel the need for a meal or entertainment the Settlers Arms Inn is a primary venue nearby as well as the Pickled Wombat for light lunches. Otherwise enjoy the quiet solitude of bird watching and serenity within a bushland setting. Or you could just enjoy a bush walk or follow the road further up to Higher Macdonald. There is a few swimming holes although these are dependant on a fresh in the river, temperatures and recent rains. Please be mindful we have been impacted on by Bush Fires so be aware of issues around cigarettes or naked frames. We do limit our space to couples that need to get away from it all. We feel the last thing you need is to tripping over other guests in a dormitory-like setting. If you want a quiet romantic setting then this is for you with great hosts and fresh-air country ambiance.

We stayed 2 nights. The place was clean, spacious, and had great furniture. We especially enjoyed the snuggle room, reading in peace and quiet. Pubs on the way at Wiseman's Ferry and nearby at St Alban's both provided great food and atmosphere. Nice road trip on the way back to Sydney through Windsor. Hosts Colin and Carol were very knowledgeable about the area and let us have our privacy. Would definitely recommend to any singles or couples.
For our anniversary this year, we wanted to be off the beaten track and find space away from the commitments in our everyday lives, to enable us to wind down and enjoy the time with just us together. We found exactly this with Colin and Carol’s little gem of a place. Nestled amongst the trees, it was delightful to be woken by birdsong each morning, and to have a breakfast waiting in the fridge for us to tuck into in our own time. The bed and pillows were comfy, slept so well, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch in the late afternoon sun. The kitchen is fully equipped for whatever you want to prepare and has a rustic feel. Some lovely touches as well (loved the jar of chocolates!). Colin and Carol were such generous hosts, coming to meet us in the dark on their drive and lovely to chat to. They even penned us an anniversary card and put a bottle of bubbles in the fridge for our celebration. We spent some time on the river, bushwalking and at St Albans, where you can step back to a time when nothing needed to be rushed.
If you’re looking for time for yourselves and complete relaxation, as Molly says, do yourself a favour.

Absolute delightful couple. A real pleasure to host an enjoyed some of the extra touches we put in place given the celebratory nature of their stay with us. Would absolutely recommend them as guests in the future. Initially unable to do review with the stayz app but certainly happy to do one now. Kind regards Colin & Carol
