Great Stay

Our stay was great. The house is really well stocked and setup, the kitchen has everything you might need. The swim-spa was amazing. The water view can’t be beat. The water is very shallow and the shore is rocky, it is difficult to walk in the water or to swim due to how shallow it is. But the kids enjoyed playing in the sand and finding shells.

Weekend getaway

Stunning location with a fabulous new bright and sunny home. Plenty of room to relax and everything we needed to enjoy our stay was there for us. The large outdoor hot tub was wonderful, especially in the cold! Darci was a great host and available as needed to help us out with any questions we had. Would love to return again and again!

Relaxing Weekend

This is a lovely property. My group consists of 4 people and 3 dogs. The front yard is fenced which is great for the dogs and the back yard leading to the water is huge. There are neighbors but its very private. Theres lots of space and it has a very calming vibe. We really enjoyed our weekend get away

Girls Weekend

Lovely home on the lake to have our friends’ birthday weekend. Peaceful and relaxing to sit with a morning coffee and see bald eagles and owls just outside the window. Walks along the lake, chatting around the fire and soaks in the swim spa. Well stocked kitchen, amazing studio space and comfortable beds. Darci was helpful and quick to respond. It was like staying at a friend’s home. We will be back!

Very spacious. Large common area for dining and sitting. Ample kitchen cabinets with large island. Large sunroom with seating for eight or more. Large studio on second floor can hold four or more tables set up for games, puzzles, or crafts. Many interesting paints on wall, items of furniture, and decor items. Lots of books to peruse on shelves in every room. Attractive view of lake, but gravel and large rocks at shore. Large hot tub got repeated use. Unfortunately the micro wave oven and the stove were very dirty, and the display on the stove was very difficult to read, hence, difficult to set. The interior was rather cluttered, and the exterior had a few eyesores, like the rubbish heap under the deck or the siding coming off the building.

Lovely stay

We had a wonderful stay here. There was plenty of room for our whole family reunion (7 adults and toddlers). Big island in the kitchen, eating area and large living room. Water jugs are provided. The beds were comfortable, the enclosed sunroom was a lovely addition. The place was stocked with anything you could possibly want or need. The kitchen had everything in it. There were quite a few knick knacks that we had to move out the toddlers reach. The deck had lovely chairs and there was a fire pit in the yard. We brought our own pop up for shade on the deck. It was a bit of walk to the water, but not too bad. The lake is super shallow so no swimming - just wading. The swimspa was lovely and the perfect temperature for everyone. There are a couple of gas stations nearby for supplies/food that have been forgotten. I would recommend this place.

Spacious, well stocked, amazing sunsets, and a wonderful master spa!

Stayed as a family of seven adults. Nice to have 2 clean bathrooms and 4 bedrooms-very comfortable beds and sound proof rooms. Very well stocked pantry. We made good use of the yoga studio and it had wonderful acoustics for my son and his acoustic guitar too! Very peaceful and calming home. We loved the master spa! Excellent and prompt communication from Darci. My fault for not checking to see if there was a BBQ beforehand- fortunately we had a camping hamburger grill which we used over the fire pit. There was no white sandy beach as shown in the photos of the property details but we brought chairs and sat for hours with our feet in the water on the shore on the end of the small peninsula when the tide was low and the water calm-it was private and wonderful view of the lake with water lapping on the shore. We brought water shoes and the water is shallow and rocky for a very long ways but eventually could use our stand up paddle boards. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful!

We are avid swimmers and love doing the back stroke in the infinity pool, enjoying the trees and stars of a prairie night sky. We are in awe of sunsets and birds of prey in flight: Bald Eagles, Osprey and Great Horned frequent Painted Sky, and that is amazing!

Why they chose this property

We are on a bird migration route, nestled between a lake and a marsh, and have counted 56 different species of birds. Our beach road is quiet and the neighbours are very friendly. The lake is 35 miles across here, resulting in a dark sky zone, where the constellations and night sky views are phenomenal. The air is fresh and there is a lovely beach for walking.

What makes this property unique

Painted Sky Studio is exceptional for small retreats. We have a unique second floor studio space with panoramic views of the lake. Our main floor sunroom affords ideal sunset views, as does our large, lakeside deck, where you can enjoy a meal or a meeting. We have an enclosed back yard, so you can bring your house trained dogs. We love art, and here you will find art is medicine, as is nature. Painted Sky Studio is a place for contemplation and restoration: a tranquil getaway only 45 minutes from the North perimeter of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ideal summer or winter, Lake Manitoba boasts exemplary ice fishing including a winter commercial fishery.
