Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We really enjoyed hosting your group…loved hearing the kids’ laughter on the beach. We appreciate the care you took of our cottage and for leaving it so clean when you left. Come back anytime!
This property is GORGEOUS!!! The place is soooo homey and the hosts have added so many welcome touches such as milk, condiments, ample coffee, honey, sun screen… they absolutely thought of everything and I felt so spoiled staying there. The view is MAGIC and the home so cozy. We will be back!
Last minute booking due to NS forested park trails being closed due to wildfire risks…what a great pivot! Beautiful house, well stocked with great hosts. Lots of stairs if that is a concern.

Perfect place for two couples to relax and enjoy the beautiful harbour! John and Kathryn have thought of everything that you need for a comfortable stay. We loved watching the eagles and other birds from the deck or from the cozy window seat overlooking the water! We would definitely love to visit again!
Great on rainy days. Even better with sunshine. A wonderful stay. Thanks to john and Katherine.

John and Katheryn were great hosts. They made sure we has all we needed, respected our privacy, and respo ded quickly to any questions. The hoise is right on the wayer which made our kayaking experience outstanding.
An older home that has been beautifully redone with beautiful ocean views in a woodsy area. Every bedroom has a deck or porch to enjoy. John and Kathryn have thought of everything. We felt at home immediately!

Thank you for your review. It was great to meet you. We enjoyed hosting you—you were great guests! Thanks for taking care of the place and leaving it so clean. Come back anytime!
This brand new house overlooks a bay, affording wonder views. Impeccably appointed and with meticulous attention to detail, this is an oasis of quiet and beauty. Hosts went far out of their way to accommodate us. An ideal place for a vacation amid nature, yet 15 minutes drive from a charming town with all the needs of civilization. Our best VRBO.

Thanks for your lovely review. We were so pleased you could stay in our place following our newly completed renovation. We enjoyed meeting you and Anne. You were amazing guests. Thank you for leaving our place so clean and tidy! You are welcome back anytime.
What a wonderful property! Even with the less-than-delightful weather, this home was a beauty. Thoughtfully well-appointed kitchen, super clean and loads of space. And our hosts were so welcoming - what a treat! We are so grateful. We really hope to have a chance to return.
We spent a great week in this clean, bright, spacious cottage that was generously supplied with everything one could wish for when travelling, from maple syrup, milk, cream, mustard, ketchup and relish in the refrigerator plus olive oil and vinegar in the terrifically outfitted kitchen to great beach towels, bbq equipment and kayaks to use.
It is aptly named Quarterdeck and is a few feet from the shore of the bay with lovely views of sunset from the great room and decks.
It is a quiet retreat, only minutes drive away from lovely, sandy beaches and Antigonish’s Main Street with StFX and the excellent Bauer summer theatre on campus.
The principal bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable King size bed and there were two large walking closets with lots of shelves.
Our hosts were warm, welcoming, responsive and even spent the time to get us set up in the kayaks and take us out on the water.
A memorable visit!

Thanks for taking the time to write this detailed review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It is our goal for our guests to feel at home and enjoy the natural surroundings. Thank you for being such great guests and taking such wonderful care of the place.
Beautiful property, great hosts, but be aware of a few things
First off, the hosts (John and Kathryn) were fabulous. Had everything ready to go. And always so helpful with things, including switching to a firmer bed for us! They're fabulous.
But there are a few things to be aware about.
There are lots of bugs on the beach -- insect spray even during the day. It's a rocky beach (great for rock hunting), but you're going to have to go to Pomquet Beach for a sandy beach.
The hot water in the house is limited so you need to take a timely shower and not linger around too long.
The cell service (and I have both Bell and Rogers) was spotty. So if you're trying to disconnect, it's great!
And to get to the house, is down a steep path. We have a SUV so it's not an issue, but it may be if you don't have good grip.
Thank you for a great stay in a beautiful place.

About the host
Hosted by Kathryn & John
We are both travellers at heart. After years of working abroad and sailing around the North Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Caribbean, we have decided to set down some roots in this lovely spot.
Why they chose this property
We are drawn to the water and natural areas. We love to hike, sail, and kayak and want to share the space with others. We love that this rural property is close to the university town of Antigonish. Antigonish is quaint little town but due to the university, has everything we might need: shopping, restaurants, etc...
