Welcome to The Woodpecker Retreat, our spacious 3-bedroom cottage at Black River Cottages, thoughtfully set along the peaceful Black River in Prince Edward County.

Ideal for families, friends, or small groups, this cottage comfortably sleeps up to six and offers a relaxed, welcoming space to truly settle in. Inside, you’ll find a full kitchen, cozy living areas, and plenty of room to gather — while outside, the river, green space, and fresh air invite you to slow down and enjoy being together.

Guests love the balance here: space for kids to play freely, quiet moments by the water, and evenings around the fire. Kayaks and canoes are included, and the property offers a large playground, open lawns, and a calm, family-friendly atmosphere.

The Woodpecker Retreat is part of our family-run cottage property, where many guests return year after year. It’s not about luxury or crowds — it’s about comfort, connection, and creating memories that last long after you leave.

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and return the keys
Leave your cottage UNLOCKED Return COTTAGE KEY and SANDBANK PASS to the office. Return any Muskoka Chairs or Picnic tables to their respective cottages Wash ALL remaining dishes.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
