About this property

Quiet lakeside cottage getaway close to mountain bike and hiking trails.

This single bedroom detached house is set right in front of the lake with a great view and easy access to the dock and shoreline. This is a great retreat for a couples getaway. There is a full bathroom with laundry and full kitchen with dishwasher. All you need is your clothes and some food and you can move in to a beautiful lakefront getaway for a quiet week of removal from the busy bustle of life. Have coffee on the dock after hiking or biking in the mountains behind the cottage right out the back door. We are 4 mins from the mountain bike trail head at Ellison Provincial Park. Go for a run on the quiet back road and get some hill training in or just a casual walk through the woods on the many trails in the area. There are also kayaks and paddle boards available for free if you would like to do water activities, or just bring your bathing suit for a soak in the beautiful clear water of Okanagan Lake.

There is a large deck for lounging in the sun, a covered eating area for any outdoor meals and a BBQ as well for those fresh lakeside meals you can't get anywhere else. There is also an indoor kitchen table if you prefer eating inside. There is a separate private parking area right next to the cottage for loading and unloading easily.

There is a large fire pit for lakeside fires with comfy adirondack chairs surrounding for a perfect ending to any lakeside day. Have a glass of wine or sherry fireside looking at the stars telling stories of the exciting day before retiring to a comfy warm king bed just steps away.

We are about 20 mins from downtown Vernon where you will find great downtown shops with lots of handmade art and Okanagan specific brands. There are many restaurants in town and lots of cafes with fresh cooking.

Silver Star Mountain Resort is 20 minutes from downtown Vernon and offers downhill mountain biking and hiking if you want to get up in the alpine. You can load your bike on the chairlift and bike down on any of the green, blue or black runs depending on your ability. You can rent bikes and e-bikes there if you don’t want to travel with them. The village has lots of nice mountain shops and restaurants as well as a spa.

There are many activities around the valley, you can rent a boat or jet skis, float the Enderby river on tubes, rent e-bikes and bike the rail trail along Kalamalka Lake to Oyama then bike up to wineries and breweries or do a driving tour. There is no shortage of things to do in the Okanagan Valley.

Check in is Saturdays any time after noon for this weekly rental. We promise you won't want to leave. Most of our customers come yearly and have been coming for many years.

Beautiful
Beautiful property and lovely owner. The only glitch for us was that the listing did not mention that the dock was shared with the owner.

Quiet lakefront retreat in woodlands, yet only 20 minutes to a grocer.
Exceeded our expectations and happily surprised us with lots of wildlife to watch. John greeted us and gave us the grand tour of the very clean and well appointed property. He lives in the house above to the left. Because of the elevation difference and the abundance of foliage, you are afforded a ton of privacy. The kitchen was well stocked with all kinds of cookware, dishwasher, utensils, gadgets, water cooler, spices etc. The living room had leather furniture, throw blankets and a large TV with lots of channels. The king bed was really comfy and the linens were very high quality. There was a ton of available storage throughout the house should you be staying awhile. There was a variety of choices for full sun, dappled sun or full shade all throughout the day so you could avoid sunburn. The lakeside deck had loungers and Adirondack chairs and the house deck had sunny loungers and a table with chairs set under a canopy. There were lots of paddle boards or kayaks for water fun in the clear Okanagan lake front and two boat hoists. Wandering the shore or in the shallows looking at rocks and fish was my favourite past time. There was so much wildlife: deer, chipmunks, heron, eagles, robins, hummingbird, etc. John and Kim checked in from time to time in case we needed anything; very friendly father, daughter team. We would definitely go back.

The Cliff Bungalow Beach House - a bit of a drive, but worth every KM to get there
If you're looking for a great space, away from everything and still be surrounded with all the necessary creature comforts. This is the place to retreat to. You're right on the beach, have access to kayaks and paddleboards, just 2 km from Ellison Provincial Park with loads of hiking and biking trails and amazing beaches. John was an amazing host and ensured we had everything we needed and more. The beach house is fully provisioned, and unlike some other VRBO properties we've rented in the past, this one came with lots of everything and of good quality. We were looking for a great restaurant in the area to celebrate our anniversary and his suggestion of Intermezzo in Vernon was spot on. If you are looking for a romantic dinner ask for the cellar room. If you are planning to partake in some wine tasting you are looking at a15 minute drive back into Vernon and then another 30 minutes south to Kelowna before you get to the major wineries. Definitely looking forward to a return visit.
