The Neighborhood:
Stroll to the MCG or over the iconic Yarra River to Rod Laver Arena, perhaps take in a play in the colourful theatre district – the world’s most liveable city awaits.
The tram network, most of which are in the free tram zone, can take you all over the city from Docklands to Melbourne Central. Unearth lively events and scenic treats along the way, along with plenty of opportunities to shop at great retailers and eat at prominent restaurants and cafes.
Things to do and must visit
Flinders Street Railway Station: This iconic railway station is right nearby. It's not only a transportation hub but also an architectural landmark.
Federation Square: Just across from Flinders Street Station, Federation Square is a cultural and entertainment precinct. It often hosts events, exhibitions, and has many restaurants and bars.
Yarra River: The Yarra River is a short walk from our apartment. You can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the riverbank or take a river cruise.
St. Paul's Cathedral: This historic Anglican cathedral is located just a short distance away. Its impressive architecture makes it a notable landmark.
ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image): Located at Federation Square, ACMI is a museum dedicated to film, television, and digital culture. It's a great place for movie enthusiasts and those interested in digital media.
Royal Botanic Gardens: If you enjoy nature, the Royal Botanic Gardens is not too far. It's a beautiful place to relax and explore various plant species.
National Gallery of Victoria (NGV): NGV is one of the largest and most visited art museums in Australia. It's known for its impressive art collection and exhibitions.
Eureka Skydeck: While it's a bit further away, the Eureka Skydeck offers stunning panoramic views of Melbourne from the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower. It's an iconic attraction in the city.
These are just a few of the points of interest near our apartment. Melbourne is a vibrant city with plenty to see and do, so you'll find many more attractions, restaurants, and cultural experiences as you explore the area.
Getting Around:
- You are within Melbournes Free Tram Zone.
By tram: Any tram along Swanston Street and St Kilda Road to stops at Federation Square; the free City Circle Tram to the corner of Flinders and Swanston streets.
Melbourne Visitor Shuttle: The complete trip includes 13 stops and takes approximately an hour and a half. The bus runs every 30 minutes between 9.30am and 4.30pm daily (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day) and includes an on-board commentary.
By foot: From Federation Square, over Princes Bridge to Southbank and St Kilda Road (5-15 minutes).
Along the river: For a different perspective, jump on board a scenic cruise, water taxi or gondola outside the Southgate complex for a cruise along the Yarra River.
Transport from Airport:
- 20-30 Minutes by Uber (around 50 dollars)
- Public transport from Melbourne Airport (about $20 per person) is generally complicated and takes a long time (over one hour). You will need to take the Skybus to Southern Cross Station. From here, take a train to Melbourne Central. Walk 2 minutes to the apartment!
Interaction with Guests:
I mostly interact with guests via AirBnb, it is the best way to share info and get my response. I check messages every day and my response rate is always 100%. However, I may be able to use other APPs in some special cases.
You WON'T be sharing the place with any strangers during your stay.
