We had an wonderful stay at The Nest.It is an exceptional accommodation, very tasteful, comfortable and well appointed. No detail was overlooked in ensuring that we had a very comfortable stay. As advertised the trail head is literally outside your door and all amenities are a very short drive away. We will definitely stay again at this very cozy and beautiful cottage.

Quiet getaway
The property was exactly as advertised, new and very clean. The unit was beautifully designed. The kitchen was well stocked and had every thing required for a comfortable stay. The rain shower was amazing. The bed and the memory foam pillows were extremally comfortable The location was so peaceful, next to forested park and trails. The hosts were great, very accommodating. We will be back in the future.

About the host

Hosted by Cleve Stordy

Host profile image
Kim and Cleve grew up in Vancouver and since three kids arrived on the scene spent most of their time in South Langley, BC with stints in Calgary and Victoria. After many years dreaming about it, the stars aligned and we moved to an acreage in Saltair, Vancouver Island, just south of Ladysmith.

We are both avid gardeners, cyclists, boaters, hikers who like a nice beach to spend an afternoon on. Our move here has afforded us all of the above we could possible want. Islanders boast they we live in one of the greatest parks on earth!

If we may say so, both of us are hospitable and considerate people. It is truly our pleasure to share this beautiful part of the world and make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Hope to see you soon!

...oh yes, we like dogs and children btw....

Why they chose this property

We love that the region is culturally and historically rich. Millenia of First Nations habitation has left a distinct and unique mark on the region that can be seen and felt through their art in numerous public spaces and galleries. It's outstanding richness in public markets, wineries, cideries and the large local arts scene makes the Cowichan Valley an outstanding experience.

So many outdoor experiences nearby. Beaches, parks and lakes abound. Even ATV trails and boat ramps are a stone throw away, not to mention many notable culinary experiences. All this including ferries to the mainland and Nanaimo Regional Airport within 30 minutes of the cottage.

The calm and slower pace compared to the urban frenzy we moved from makes us wish we could have made the move sooner.

What makes this property unique

We built Quails Nest in 2023 expressly for the purpose of providing quality accommodation for visitors to the region. The cottage is a first class experience in comfort and convenience that has all the amenities you require.

Nestled at the back of the property, it is very private from the main (log home) residence. There are only neighbours visible on two sides and they are on acreage with homes built at a distance.

You don't have to go far from Quails Nest to experience the amazing outdoors. The directly adjacent Trans Canada trail, affords relaxed walking and biking access to the communities of Historic Ladysmith, Chemainus and beyond. Also the hectare size property borders Stocking Creek regional park with it's mature forest and impressive waterfalls that are a comfortable hike from your doorstep.
