Sweetwater Cottage. A Country Retreat for Lovers of Stillness.
-Sweetwater Cottage- A Country Retreat for Lovers of Stillness. Just five minutes from the Rail Trail, This is a lovingly restored 100+‑year‑old settler’s cottage set among quiet hills and fresh country air of Upper Burringbar. This peaceful hideaway invites slow mornings, gentle birdsong, and a deep connection to nature. Inside, you’ll find simple, thoughtful comfort: a full kitchen, a King bedroom, a Queen bedroom, and a fold‑out Queen couch. Beds are exceptionally cozy, dressed in clean, sun‑kissed linen. Long afternoons are best spent on the verandah, dining outdoors, or curling up by the fireplace. A BBQ is ready for easy country meals shared under open skies, and a Smart TV with board games offers gentle entertainment on quiet evenings when you feel like staying in. Sweetwater sits on a serene rural property within kilometers of walking and cycling trails. You can find abundant birdlife, native animals, and a fresh creek running through the land, where you can sit quietly and enjoy the peace. Platypus were once seen in the creek, and although the floods changed their habits, they’ve recently been spotted in a nearby private dam — a hopeful sign they’ve endured and remain part of the landscape.
Pets are welcome, but with no fencing, they must be kept close.
Starlink provides fast, unlimited internet for streaming and Wi‑Fi calling. Mobile reception is very limited, but most guests stay connected easily by using Wi‑Fi calling on their phones.
Sweetwater is a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the hinterland. The spring water on tap is so good, our neighbor who has the same source as us sells it at the local markets.

Staying at this little cottage was a wonderful experience. The tropical seclusion was a wonderful respite from the busy coastal precincts. It was so beautiful to hear the birds singing against the backdrop of water sounds - falling rain and babbling creek. We loved it and didn’t want to leave.
We had a lovely stay at Sweetwater cottage, perfect place to come back to after a day cycling the Northern Rivers Rail trail and have a glass of wine by the cosy fireplace. The cottage is quaint with a big deck and lovely vista of rainforest and sound of nearby creek. It's very private.
Sweetwater cottage is close to Moorbal which has the only bike hire place on the bike trail that rent normal bikes not eBikes
