Group getaway

Pros:- Large, spacious cottage with a good layout.- Beautiful property (snow covered during our visit, still lovely).- Well-stocked kitchen for cooking/food prep.- Three bathrooms, great for groups.Cons:- Could not access door with provided code upon arrival. Door handle then fell off; it appeared we weren’t the first to have trouble. (I contacted the property owner and they were quick to respond and give us an alternative to get inside. Good that they were prepared with a back-up entry option.)- Mouse traps were set throughout the living areas. Not great with a dog. Mouse poop was in the pantry and in the cupboard with the pots and pans.- Plastic (from around toilet paper rolls) and rags were left on a bathroom counter and other places.- Communication was lacking. We requested to modify the booking three days prior and received acknowledgment of the modification the day prior. We were told there was an additional charge for our request and that the charge was “mentioned in the listing” as well. The charge was not listed in the Vrbo listing or the welcome package. (We paid it, anyway.) After our trip, I checked my e-mails to see I received a message from the host at 2pm the day after our first night stating that pets are not allowed on the furniture. This kind of information should be shared prior to arrival, not AFTER a full night and an additional day.- We felt the nightly rate was too high based on our experience.
