The rooms a very unique and they property is beautiful.
We had tiny bats roosting on our villa and it was fabulous to watch them swoop and dive over the river in the evening.
The owner & staff were lovely although my lack of Spanish made communication difficult. There was few maintenance issues, and the room it’s self could do with a little love.
Incredible individual villas that satisfy, enrich,
Satisfy, stimulate your nature gene, and a great place to use as your base.
Carolina the owner, is gracious, charming, and as quality an owner/hostess you can assist you.
In confession, I am not a vegan, however do not let that stand as a block because the staff without exception, and with just a bit more expertise to her credit-the dinner chef will serve you some of the best and unique pairing of each course.
My experience was altered by an automobile accident and everyone!!!!!!! Was extremely supportive and caring. They even carried a 185* man up to hos room
I will be returning soon and often
Beware, not your normal 3 star hotel in the forest
Disappointing, beautiful setting and wonderfully crafted property. Unfortunately it has very little to no services or facilities.
Retreat or eco friendly properties should not use these badges as an excuse to compromise on the service side of the experience.
Felt unwelcome right from the start after asking for a glass of wine. 24h notice required for dinning and very average food.
Be warned, unless you are looking for a detox, a place to meditate and contemplate life you may be disappointed with what you find, as we were.
Boutique niche market premise that makes the average person feel out of place.
The proprietor, Fateh, was kind, attentive and helpful. Our room was beautiful as were the surroundings. Fateh took care of arranging our tours and saw that we had breakfast every morning before heading out. We took advantage of a wonderful meal in the Villas restaurant, walked the grounds to see the waterfall, and took a yoga class from Fateh herself.
The experience provided at Waterfall Villas was relaxing, nurturing and enjoyable. We loved it there!
The room we stayed in was extremely hot throughout the day and night. My wife and I could not sleep through the night. They have ceiling fans and another fan in the room however the Puntarenas heat is unbearable and the fans don’t do anything (just hot air). We asked for a room with ac but were going to charge 40$ more for the AC, which the room itself was already expensive.
Nice small lodging next to a beautiful waterfall
Only issue would be it’s too close to a major road with big trucks take away from the peaceful ambiance
There’s a lot to be said about this experience. The daily breakfast was very good, and the room was very clean.
Overall, the staff (cook, cleaner) were very friendly and kind. At night you’re locked in by a gate and it’s not opened until late in the morning. So, if you’re planning on coming and going, you have to let them know. I am an early riser and explorer so this was very inconvient (especially since it can be hard to find someone to help you.)
As far as the grounds go, I was never provided with a property map or told about how, when, or where to use the services offered. There’s no spa info in the room, no info about yoga, no map of the grounds, trails, etc. It was all a little confusing. When I did poke around to see what something was (the welcome card in the room alluded to an outdoor shower, so I was looking for it) I was snapped at by the owner, who was not as kind/pleasant/understanding as you’d imagine someone running this style establishment to be.
Also, for a nature based accommodation, I was really taken back by the traffic noise from the road! Often times I was woken by it in the middle of the night! It was very distracting when trying to relax or practice yoga. I didn’t get much sleep all week.
Again, the food was great and geographically it’s in a really dynamic spot.
I am an active yogi, traveler, and vegan of 2 decades, so, none of this experience was new.
I had a desire to be in the Dominical area and found waterfall villas by chance. Turned out it was meant to be, and my wife and I had one of the trips of a lifetime staying here. From the start, the owner personally responded to an email I sent after booking the reservation very quickly. She was able to quickly answer all my questions and help us setup a custom dining plan, leaving a meal or two out to try eating in local restaurants. The food served at Waterfall Villas is amazing. We are not vegan back home, but this introduction to Vegan food was amazingly good and we are trying to adjust much of our cooking at home to Vegan now. We didn't know Vegan food could be so good. We did try a fish dinner there one night too, if you eat fish, it was amazing too and we are glad we tried it. The fish was purchased (and probably caught) at market the morning it was cooked for us. We also did yoga one morning with the owner and my only regret is we did not do this more than once. Hard to beat yoga done in a yoga shala in the rain forest next to a babbling river by the waterfalls. We ending up staying five nights and there was no repetition in the included breakfast that was very good. The owner also went the extra step setting up and recommending kayaking adventure one evening at dinner for the next morning when we lacked direction on what we wanted to do during the day. We also ended up learning to surf the next day! Check Trip Advisor if you want to see more reviews, there are many.
