I liked the size of the room. Plenty of room for two queen beds.
I didn’t like that there are zero amenities. I miss the restaurant that used to be on property. It was good dood and so convenient.
Staff was extremely friendly but room was in a horrible condition. Wall paper was rolling up in large sections . Bathroom Mirror was broken , Door to the room was broken and hard to open . Bed was comfortable though .
We just left and found another place to stay. I will say the sheets looked crisp and clean. There was no air conditioning that worked. It smelled of stale cigarette smoke. It was poorly maintained. We just ate the cost of the room and left.
Within walking distance of Main Street. Not fancy but a comfortable bed and pet friendly. Being able to bring our dog was the main focus for staying here. We’ll be back in a few weeks and we’ll be staying here again.
We weren’t too impressed when we first drove up, the grounds could def use some sprucing up. We were greeted by a super friendly clerk who was able to get us an early check in (for a small fee). That was a great start! We went to the room and were pleasantly surprised. It was comfortable and clean, the AC worked phenomenally, the shower had great water pressure. We had no idea that right out back was the walkway that took us straight to the beach/pier. We also had no idea that we were a couple blocks walking distance to all the great restaurants on Main St. All this in one spot...a great package! We didn’t even need to use our car all weekend. We definitely will stay here again....we even made note of the room number so we can rebook it! Thanks Vagabond!
Like this location , Maria and the first woman I met who helped book the room were very friendly and welcoming ...George seemed annoyed with me, and the woman who came on after Maria was extremely hostile and extremely stern, without cause. Unfriendly in tone, her offer to answer my question, in place of Maria, seemed disingenuous, and made me apprehensive to continue communicating with her. The place is great for the price and quieter than I expected.
Close to main street where there are a lot of places to eat, drink and shop. 1 block of walking distance and a 6 min walk to the beach. Nice clean roo.s. rooms

Overall it is extremely convenient and just a short walk to the beach!
So they changed me a $100. Deposit when I got there my tv didn’t work it was black and white or purple I went to office to let them know and was told maintenance was not available until Monday. Our key wouldn’t open our room so disappointing we have stayed here many times and we feel this time they have gone down hill not happy with the extra $10. Dollars that we didn’t plan on and the rooms were not up to par
The Vagabond is a great roadside attraction from the glory days of highway 101 (non-freeway), it has suffered the last few years with the loss of the restaurant and the fact that many rooms are vouchered to the homeless. Yet, that is a good thing- and were my circumstances ever so dire, I'd suggest this to be an honorable effort by the hotel's BOD (Board of Directors) I never felt unsafe, and it is perfectly located for visiting downtown Ventura. Indeed, as a result of COVID19, the City has closed four blocks of Main St. providing for outdoor eating, etc. The facility is also directly adjacent to the walkable freeway overpass to the beach and pier. All in all, given my business reason for being in VTA and the price with DOGS ALLOWED, I've no complaints. Little things, e.g. noise from adjoining rooms, poor lighting in room, limited cable have to be factored against the under $100 price for my visit. Besides- it's a part of Ventura. Everyone was friendly, I didn't see much of the staff because I didn't have the room done every day, but bed and shower were great.
Terribly disappointed. The room was not as advertised on Hotels.com we reserved a non-smoking room with a Queen Size Bed. The room we were given had food trash left in room, no bed covers, smelled of heavy cigarette smoke, ugly front door area, homeless people parked in trailers, RVs right next to back side of hotel that wander on to the hotel parking lot. When re-assigned to another room, the only available room was upstairs with a full size bed; the stairs were difficult with two senior dogs that have a hard time doing stairs. The other room was stuffy with a broken air conditioner and a TV that did not work. Plus you could hear all the foot traffic when people walked by the room. Our only relieve from the stuffy room was to open the front window and have to listen to the outdoor noise in the parking lot. We were exhausted from our travels to have to go back to the front desk downstairs to complain again about another item that did not work in the room. The place is a scam! Totally not worth the money we paid for a room that was not what we reserved. I originally booked two nights, but after seeing the first room I called Hotels.com and demanded they contact the hotel to demand our money back for the next night. We would have left all together but were physically exhausted from our travels to find another room at the last minute. The only good thing about the hotel was the walking distance to the pier.
The hotel offers long-term stay options through assistance programs which has resulted in an increase of loitering in the area. Every night homeless people were wandering the area asking for money, looking at cars, or fighting with one another. I did not feel safe.

Older hotel. Clean and nice staff.
Older hotel but nice. When doors from other rooms close, you hear it slam. Water from sink smelled bad. Front desk is friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast is at the front desk. Packaged danish and coffee/hot water for tea. No place to sit in lobby. Must take back to room. Great fish taco place half a block away.
We have stayed here on many occasions when visiting the area. Now that we live in Ojai we like to come down and stay for a couple of days for a break. The quality of this hotel has significantly dropped off. Jacuzzi was dirty filled with dirt, Jacuzzi was yellow for the three day stay and needed to be shocked - very gross and embarrassing, floors in the room needed to be mopped - very dirty, no desk in the room anymore, reservation said breakfast included in my nightly price and there is no breakfast - person at the front desk said it was cancelled - I asked for a refund since there is no breakfast and was refused. Free Coffee in the lobby was good. Employees very friendly.

At 4am, while my spouse and I were sleeping, a homeless woman used a fire extinguisher to break into our hotel room from the front window. She scream and cussed. We attempted to contact the front

Großer Raum mit gutem Bett. Es war sauber und der Preis dafür geht in Ordnung.
The hotel is close to "old-town" Ventura...lots of quaint shops. It's also "quaint"...as in, not new. It looks like it's been renovated somewhat and the room was comfortable. My only complaint is that it wasn't really as clean as it should be...dusty. The bed was comfortable and clean...the shower was worked well and was clean. The lady at the front desk...I think her name was Debbie...was wonderful. ALSO, right across the street is a place with a sign that says "Best Fish Tacos". It was wonderful, and my kids told me later that it's famous...so...overall, a positive stay.
